TODAY IS NATIONAL TRIVIA DAY

Here's a bit of trivia for you.

Joseph and Irene Hixon, a prominent La Crosse family, bought the property, which includes Grandad Bluff and Hixon Forest in 1909.  They bought it to stop "developers" from turning Grandad, and the area around it, into  a large scale quarrying operation.  The Hixons donated it to the city of La Crosse in 1912 to be used as a park.

The citizens of La Crosse were outraged over the plan to use the land for a quarry.  The Hixon's came foreward and stopped the "developers" then.  Let's hope we can stop them again.

I know it's hard for some people to believe but there actually are some things more valuable and important than money.
