AIN'T IT THE TRUTH?

WHERE WOULD I RATHER BE?

I'd like to be in DEADWOOD this weekend.  WILD BILL DAYS is in progress.

BACK HOME AND HE'S STILL NAPPING

GUESS HOW OLD LINDA IS TODAY

THIS SONG SHOULD
GIVE YOU A CLUE

WHO DO WE KNOW THAT FALLS INTO THAT CATEGORY?

TENDER TOP

I didn't think to wear my cowboy hat yesterday and now I'm paying the price.  Too much sun on a nearly hairless head leads to an uncomfortable burn.  I won't make that mistake again!

SKIN, FLOWERS AND PONY'S

Left the apartment at 7:30 this morning and didn't get back home until 5:30 this afternoon.

I saw the dermatologist and got a clean bill of health from him.

After that, Rita and I went shopping for plants and then went to the farm a dug in the ground until we got everything planted.

Meanwhile Roger and Terrel went to pick up the two pony's Roger bought and brought them back to the pasture.  They seem to be happy at their new home.  I've got lots of pictures to share and I'll have them on tomorrow after a good nights rest.  I'm too worn out to do them tonight.

ALAS! I'M ON THE DYING END OF THE CHART

OUR LATEST UPDATE FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE

SOME OF THE WORLDS STRANGEST THINGS COME OUT OF WISCONSIN

TODAY'S SCHEDULE: A DOCTOR VISIT AND A TRIP TO THE FARM

Time for my six month visit with the dermatologist this morning and then a day on the farm.

Roger and Terrel are going to try to get the snakes out of the shed while Rita and I plant some flowers.

80% CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT~60% CHANCE TOMORROW

Rain in the forecast is the last thing that farmers want to hear this spring.

Corn usually goes in the ground around May 1, around here.  This year they're still waiting to plant because the fields look like they're better for fishing than planting.  The fields just don't have a chance to dry out.

Being a month late for planting means we'll have to have a very late date for the first freeze, in the fall, or there won't be much of a crop.

THIS IS WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY

HOLD ALL EMAILS TO RITA AND ROGER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Their computer is in the hospital after catching a worm while Rita was trying to learn more about the Liatris she wants to plant.  I have a feeling that will be on the menu when I go up there tomorrow.

Apparently, it's a fairly big job to get the worm out of the computer and it's coming up on the weekend so they may be out of touch until next week.

I AIN'T GOT NO BEER BELLY!

An article in TIME magazine says there's no such thing as a "beer belly".  That's a complete myth.  The only calories in beer are in the alcohol and they certainly don't target the belly in any way.

WHO NEEDS THE CHICKEN?

AN ITEM FROM DONNIE

Condos in downtown Austin are virtually sold out. Item in today's paper that the high-rise Four Seasons Residences is now sold out, with units averaging $625/sq.ft., or $1.25 million.

Guess we will not be moving downtown.

JUST WHAT I NEED: A FLYING BICYCLE

DID YOU EVER SEE A LION AND A WEINER DOG PLAY TOGETHER?

SHOW US YOUR CRACK!

OH! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING!

What a wonderful sight when I opened the drapes this morning.  Sunshine!  Not a cloud in the sky!

This spring hasn't given us many mornings like this so I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

WHAT NEEDS FIXIN'?

DID YOU SEE THESE GOLD SHOES?

When I say "gold shoes" I mean real gold.  TAKE A LOOK HERE

DREAM ON!

WOW!  I must have really been tired.  I slept in until 4:30 this morning.  I can't remember the last time I slept that long but it must have been years ago.

I was having a goofy dream too.  While cleaning the living room, I lost the sofa.  I had moved all the furniture to the middle of the room to clean around the edges and when I went to put it all back the sofa was missing.

I spent half the night wandering from room to room looking for that damn sofa.  Now, you figure that one out!

HERE IT IS FOLKS....THE DRIVERLESS CAR!

I'm not quite sure why this would make human drivers nervous.  You should remember that when you're a passenger in an aircraft, the plane is flying itself during most of the flight.

TODAY IS WISCONSIN HEAT AWARENESS DAY

I'm not quite sure why we need a day like this but there you have it.

I would think if you're hot you'll be aware of it.  You know what they say.....when you're hot, you're hot!

SOMETHING WE SHOULD NOT FORGET

AN AUSTRIAN VILLAGE IS VOTING TO CHANGE THE NAME

We're not turning into an x-rated blog but the citizens of Fucking, Austria are going to vote on changing the name of their town and I thought you'd like to know.

The town and its name have been around for a long, long time and, of course, it's a big tourist attraction with folks having their picture taken next to the sign.  Unfortunately, the tourists keep taking the signs as a souvenir and the folks in town are tired of replacing it.

They tried changing the name back to the 16th century spelling of the town which was Fugging but the tourists snapped up those signs too.  So, it will be interesting to see what they come up with for a new name.

HE'S BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

Roger is back in the horse business.  He bought two of them and the neighbors have two of their horses in the pasture too so they won't have to worry about mowing again this season.

While they were adding two horses to the family they were getting rid of two corn snakes that decided to make their home in the shed.  Terrel was called in to take them away but he says he thinks there are eggs somewhere in the area so we may not be snake free yet.

I'm anxious to see the horses.  The snakes, not so much!

DONNIE AND LINDA HAD AN UNEVENTFUL TRIP HOME

Donnie said, "Now some weeks of recovery and household duties until an august trip to Oregon/Washington."

HAVE YOU EVER WATCHED "FINDING YOUR ROOTS" ON PBS?

It's a fascinating show where "family tree experts" dig into your past and find out who your relatives are and there are usually some big surprises.

Now there's the story about Kevin Bacon who appeared on the show and found out that he and his wife are cousins!  Actually they're 9th cousins once removed so that's pretty distant but, still, it's "all in the family".

By the way, Kevin Bacon is also related to Brad Pitt.  They're 13th cousins once removed.

Next time hear someone say, "they're not related", think again.  Whether you like it or not, every one of us is related to everyone else so let's try to get along a little better, OK?

I GUESS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Allegiant Airlines has a good idea and cheap fares but I'm reading more and more scary stuff about their operation like the recent mess in Las Vegas when an Allegiant aircraft, filled with passengers, was stuck on the tarmac in 108 degree weather with no air conditioning and no water for two hours and they couldn't get off.

This video was shot at the beginning of the two hour delay when it was all fun and games.  When they, finally, got out two hours later they weren't quite so "festive".  I'm reading about a lot of other delays, aircraft problems and cancelled flights.  But, it's a good deal if you want to take your chances!

I DON'T EAT TRIX ANYMORE...THEY'RE JUST FOR KIDS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIC DAMONE....85 TODAY

Here's a clip from the past featuring Vic along with Andy Williams and Bobby Darin.

DON'T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS

I was just reading that 50% of foodborne illness is caused by dirty hands.  That's according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

They say the correct way to wash your hands is to wash with soap and water for, at least, 20 seconds

According to the study by the disease control folks, most people only wash their hands (if they wash them at all) for about six seconds which does diddly-squat for killing germs.

DONNIE AND LINDA WILL GET HOME JUST IN TIME TO FIRE UP THE BIKES

TIME FOR GRANDMA TO HANG UP THE KEYS

I SURE COULD USE THIS T-SHIRT

I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!

Did you know that a lobster's blood is colorless until exposed to oxygen.  Then it turns blue.

THE NOT SO NON-STOP FLIGHT

Donnie and Linda are flying back to Texas on Southwest Airlines today.  I'm glad they weren't booked on the Southwest flight from L.A. to Texas yesterday that had to make an unscheduled stop in Phoenix after a telephoned bomb threat.

RITA DELIGHTS IN CATCHING ME AT MY WORST MOMENTS.....THIS IS ONE OF THEM!

She knows if she dares me, I'll usually do it.  She wrote, "Ahhhh...come on.  Put this on your blog."  Donnie followed up with, "Great picture--every figure is striking a jaunty pose--even the cropped-off heads add to the jocular mood."

That's OK.  Laugh now.  You'll be sorry when I'm gone.  On second thought...I may outlive you to get even.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY YET?

DO YOU EVER WONDER WHAT THE RICH PEOPLE ARE DOING TODAY?

HERE'S A PEEK!

WHY DO THEY CALL A DUFFLE BAG A DUFFLE BAG?

I'm, apparently, not as inquisitive as I thought I was.  I never wondered why they called a duffle bag a duffle bag until I read the answer this morning.

The cloth that's used to make a duffle bag was originally sold in Duffel, Belgium.

Duffel is a town of about 16,000 folks and that's where the heavy woolen cloth, called duffel comes from.  Besides the bags, duffel is also used to make military overcoats and luggage.

Now I have to wonder why they call the cloth duffle.

"MADE IN CHINA".....NOW IN SPACE!

IF AUTHORS COULD TALK

I sent a tweet to Lucy Worsley, author of the book I'm reading "If Walls Could Talk".  I told her that I really loved it and it was fun to read.

She sent me a return tweet, "Thank you!  Clearly you are an intelligent and discerning individual."

Now, there's an author who writes great books and also knows class when she sees it!

PACKERS HISTORY

Had he lived, Vince Lombardi would have been 100 years old today.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 10 YEARS....CHER RETURNS!

There isn't much that will keep me up after 7 PM but I will stay up for CHER, one of my all time favorite diva's, as she makes her first public appearance in 10 years on NBC's THE VIEW.  The show will air on June 18.

By the way, Cher has a great new video of one of her classic hits, "Do You Believe in Love".

DONNIE AND LINDA HEAD BACK TO TEXAS TODAY

Linda said, "Last day in beautiful Southern California.  We just got  back from a nice, casual, dinner at a Turkish restaurant in Laguna Beach.  Our friend Chris has to teach his on line class and then we will go to a lovely Japanese bakery and gelato shop for dessert...yum!  Lot's of good food on this trip."

OK~EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS WORKS

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE MUSIC TO REMIND YOU OF DAYS GONE BY

I just ran over the Kwik Trip to get a loaf of bread and this song was blaring out across the parking lot.  It took me back to KIMM in Rapid City and the summer of 1966.  Back to the days when I had hair and everything.

TODAY'S FAMOUS BIRTHDAYS

Happy birthday to Prince Phillip who is 91 today.  And, one of the great singers of all time was born, on this date, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  Judy Garlands birthday was June 10, 1922.

IT'S A MIRACLE!

A DAY WITHOUT RAIN IN THE FORECAST!  I never thought we'd see a day like that again.  Actually, the whole week looks pretty rain-free and finally the temperatures will start to warm up.  Highs will be around 75 today and 80 tomorrow.

There's a chance for thunderstorms on Wednesday but sunny days will return for Thursday and Friday.

PHOTO BY RITA FROM JESSICA'S PARTY

DONNIE SENT A PICTURE FROM THE LOS ANGELES GARMET DISTRICT

"This woman worked in my office in Bolivia 15 years ago.  Her son later went to Italy to study fashion, then returned to L. A. to start a business with his Mother.  We went to the downtown fashion district to visit their workshop."

JESSICA'S GRADUATION PARTY WAS A MAJOR SUCCESS

Jessica's Graduation Party was a major success and I think we gave her a great send off to start her college years at Stout this fall.  Hopefully, she'll brush the chocolate off her teeth before she shows up for classes.
Rita took a bunch of pictures so, hopefully I'll have more to share with you later.

In the meantime, take a look at this happy quartet!  You're looking at some happy folks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHNNY DEPP~50 TODAY

LET'S BOOK A ROOM

Interesting article, this morning, at the Yahoo! travel page, "10 hotel secrets from behind the front desk."  (Read it here.)  Having had a bit of experience in this area I can tell you that most of these items are true...a few I've never come across or heard of.  I'll let you guess which is which.

TASTY ON TOAST

Festival's new house brand of strawberry preserves is really good.  Certainly, just as good as the higher priced name brands.

REMEMBERING THE RAPID CITY FLOOD JUNE 9, 1972

I remember, like it was yesterday, driving past this scene just hours after the flood waters roared through Rapid City destroying everything in its path and killing hundreds.  You never forget a day like that.
