THIS DOESN'T LOOK GOOD.

Wonder if I should try one of these?

HERE YOU GO...IT'S AN OKTOBERFEST TWEET ALREADY!!

I didn't do a damned thing today.

Is there a penalty for that?

Put it on my tab.

They're starting to put up the tents for RIVERFEST which starts Wednesday.

I sure do hope they have some decent weather.  One good sign is that Wednesday is the first day, next week, with no rain in the forecast so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Duane isn't any happier with the weather in western South Dakota than I am with the weather in western Wisconsin

"Rain here every day with hail and strong winds too.  The wild flowers and weeds are hip high and I can't mow them down with the trimmer.  This is a cooler summer too.".

What's wrong, honey?

I was just reading that Brad Pitt's net worth is $180 million.....my net worth is just a touch below that.

I see Ringo Starr is playing at the Chicago Theater tonight.

I can't believe this weather. Will it NEVER stop raining??

And, Noah thought HE had it bad.  If he wanted to see REAL rain he should have been in Wisconsin.

How many dogs do you know who eat corn right off the cob?

TEXAS SUNSET

No wonder Donnie and Linda moved into town.  Look at this beautiful sunset they enjoyed from their second story porch.

How come Bandit gets to go to Key West and I don't??

Hey! This goes back a few years and what a great song it was!

Beautiful photo.

You think it's cold in Superior? Get this.......

The high temperature at Dome Fuji, Antarctica, today, was 90 below zero..

I'll tell you right now...I'll fly anywhere, any day in any weather with this guy!!!

And, I wonder what this baby sells for!

Gee Whiz...what a surprise! And, just in time for the 4th of July travel period.

.

I got a note from Kathy and Superior, Wisconsin sounds every bit as uncomfortable as I thought it would.

"I talked to my sister in Superior at 2:30 and she and Bob were sitting in the house with their blankets.  It was 50 degrees.  Bob couldn't golf because it was too cold and wet.

The Lake Superior wind is a killer!".

DANDELION DATA

Next spring when you're battling the new crop of dandelions you can blame the Pilgrims.

I was just reading that dandelions are not native to North America.  Their origin is Asian and European and the first dandelions, more than likely, hit our shores with the first Pilgrims.

NEW YORK NAUGHTY

All actor Shia LaBeouf was doing was smoking inside a New York City theater and slapping strangers on the butt during a performance of "Cabaret" and police came in and arrested him.

New York has, obviously, lost its sense of humor..

LOVE THE PICTURE

MAYBE KATHY CAN EXPLAIN......

Why is it always so damn cold in Superior?  (that might make a great song title)

Again this morning it was the coldest spot in Wisconsin at 43 degrees.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE BETTERS GONE?

According to the Rapid City Journal, business at the casinos in Deadwood was off 5.9% in May..

SLEEP

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

Julia Duffy is getting old and weasely.  She's 63 today.

STUFF

BOY, AIN'T THIS THE TRUTH!

SUNGLASSES DAY

Today is SUNGLASSES DAY  but the only reason you'll need them today will be to keep the rain out of your eyes.

RAIN

Raining from Eau Claire to Waterloo this morning.  Like we need more rain!

Flood Warnings continue along the Mississippi River.  Thunderstorms are also a good bet for this weekend.  Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday night will bring the possibility of severe weather in the form of damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding.  Sunday night could also bring the possibility of tornadoes.

If that doesn't spell "lousy weekend" I don't know what does.

DONUT INFLATION

Where will it end?

Donnie writes, "When a donut shop opened in Dripping Springs a couple of years ago, I was offended that they were charging 50 cents per donut.  When we were kids we bought donuts for 5 cents each.

Yesterday I tried a shop in our new neighborhood, a more up-scale community near the lake.  Here in Lakeway, donuts are $1.00 each!!!".

Just think about that.  Donnie could have had 20 donuts, when he was a kid, for the same price as ONE donut costs today.

Who the hell wants to live in a country where you can't even afford to put donuts on the table?

THE BIRTHDAY BOY

Rita, Roger, Jessica and I popped in on Uncle Bob this afternoon to wish him a happy birthday.  He was in good spirits and I know he was happy to see us.  Most people are.

Paul and Dorothy will be treating him tomorrow.

A NOTE FROM GLADYS

"Have had lots of rain.  We needed it but maybe not in the abundance it has come.

Headed to Yankton for a party today.  The family arrives a week from today.  I've had help getting the cabin at the lake in shape.

The mosquitoes have been terrible with all the rain.  I went outside this morning and I'm full of  bites."

THE GREAT QUESTION OF THE DAY

YUKKY FOOD

According to KITCHEN DAILY AT AOL, the most hated food in the USA is Brussels Sprouts followed by Garlic.

I can't say the spouts are my favorite vegetable but I like them now and then.  And, I couldn't live without garlic in the kitchen.

The one on the "hated foods list" that really surprised me was CELERY that came in at #5.  Who the hell doesn't like celery and where did you leave your taste buds?

I swear, sometimes I think I'm the only person left on earth that has a little bit of common sense.

HEY! THAT LOOKS FAMILIAR! I USED TO WORK THERE!

Four Seasons Hotel in Houston..a great place to work...an even better place to stay!

CHOCOLATE PUDDING DAY

That's it!  I've be trying to think of something different for my "sweet tooth" and I haven't had pudding in a long time.

Happy CHOCOLATE PUDDING DAY!

SUMMER HEAT

Summer is here and the heat is on.  We'll be close to 90 in La Crosse on Sunday.  On the cooler side, temperatures were around 40 in Ashland and Superior early this morning.

PLANNING A TWIN CITIES WEEKEND? PICK ANOTHER WEEKEND

PARK IT

I see, in the news, that people are complaining about 75 cent, per hour, parking fees in downtown La Crosse.  When Donnie and I were walking in downtown Los Angeles, a few years back, we walked by a parking lot that was charging $35.00 per hour and it was nearly full.  And, in New York......

DON'T THROW THOSE BEER BOTTLES AWAY: NOW, THIS TAKES TALENT!!

I'm thinking of putting a trio together.  Carl, Roger, me and a case of beer....in the bottle, of course.

GLOBAL BEATLES DAY

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THIS BUILDING IS?

Could this be the home of a rich star in Beverly Hills?  Perhaps part of the royal palace at Monaco?  Or how about a convent church in Spain.

Guess again.  This is the office of Donnie's dermatologist.  Amazing what a face lift, or two, can do.

OOPS!

Having been in broadcasting for most of my working life, I can assure you this, eventually, happens to all of us.

Dead air is never a good thing but a pause between your intro and the beginning of your news story is always a good idea.

You have to listen very carefully to this to understand what he's saying but if you do understand it you'll know he didn't mean what it sounds like he said!

FLOOD WARNING IS STILL IN EFFECT FOR LA CROSSE

River level at La Crosse this morning is 12.2 feet.  Flood stage is 12.0 feet.  Pettibone campground and RV park is flooded.  Other low areas near the river are flooded this morning..

HEY! EVEN I WOULD LIKE THIS JOB!

WEATHER: MORE OF THE SAME

What an odd summer.  The weather forecast never seems to change.  We're looking at more thunderstorms, every day, through Sunday.  The Mississippi River will continue to rise and flood warnings are in effect on parts of the river..

SOME VISITORS DROPPED IN ON DONNIE AND LINDA'S PORCH YESTERDAY

I REMEMBER.......

It was about this time of year we could always expect visitors from Wisconsin when I was growing up in South Dakota.

Uncle Ed, Aunt Edna, Carl and Rita  would make the trip to buy a supply of fireworks which were illegal in Wisconsin at that time.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HENRY VIII

One of England's most colorful kids was Henry VIII who spent most of his time getting wives and then getting rid of them.

Henry was crowned King of England on June 24, 1509.

There were a lot of kings and queens before Henry and after Henry and let's remember them all.

THIS JUST HIT TWITTER

I THINK WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE DAY WITHOUT ANY RAIN

I THINK I'M GOING TO HAVE TO WATCH THIS ONE

The highest rated TV comedy in Britain is coming to PBS next week.  I think it's going to be fun.

SOUTH DAKOTA #1 TEXAS #2

The big news of the morning is the results of the annual CNBC survey of the TOP STATES FOR BUSINESS IN THE USA.

I was delighted to see that my two favorite states are the two top states for business.

The new survey shows:

#1 SOUTH DAKOTA
#2 TEXAS

I wonder if the fact that I spent more than half my life in those two states has something to do with it.

WATCH THE PUMP PRICES RISE

OIL PRICES ARE UP due to the never ending Iraq mess.

PRICEY BEANS

Starbucks coffee going up 5 to 20 cents tomorrow.

SUICIDE ON THE RISE?

A troubling item in the news today.

We average about 15 suicides every year in La Crosse county but this year we've already had 14.  What's happening here?

GOOD GOLLY! I SLEPT UNTIL 4:00 A.M.!!

Can't remember the last time I slept that late.  When you hit 74 you don't want to spend too much time in bed because you don't have too much time left!

I THINK THIS MIGHT BE AN OK DAY

I don't see any rain on the radar this morning and the forecast says we'll see some sun with a high of 80.  Sounds good to me.

MORE RAIN ABOUT TO CROSS THE RIVER

I knew that big blob of rain I saw in western Minnesota this morning would finally make it here and, sure enough, it did.  Just what we DON'T need is more rain.

WHERE WOULD I RATHER BE TODAY?

In Belle Fourche for the South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo!

These are scenes from two years ago and, as you can see, these Dakota kids are mighty tough!

LOVE THE AIRLINE HUMOR

I'M SORRY I LOOKED AT THE RADAR

There's a big blob of RAIN moving into Mankato and HEADING TOWARDS LA CROSSE.
