HISTORICAL WEDDINGS

January 6, 1540 was a big day for the king of England.  Henry VIII took Anne of Cleves as his fourth wife. Alas, Anne didn't sit on the throne very long.  Seven months, to be exact.  In July of 1540 Henry moved on to find wife #5.  But, I guess, you could call Anne the "lucky wife".  She kept her head and outlived all of Henry's other wives.

A marriage that lasted a bit longer was that of George Washington and Martha.  They were married on January 6, 1759 and George hung on to her until the end.

It was Martha's second marriage.  Her first husband, a very wealthy plantation owner, died leaving Martha with a ton of money and 75 slaves which she brought into the marriage with George.
