LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE READY

WYOMING KITTENS SURE ARE CUTE

Angela sent this photo of one of the babies and I just thought it was the cutest picture I've ever seen.

They're at that age where they discover something new almost every minute of their day and their eyes get as big as can be so they can take it all in.

THIS IS VERY SERIOUS STUFF, FOLKS

The drought in California is now, officially, the most serious drought ever recorded in that area.

I'LL BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW,,,,,,,,,

You have a tongue print that is as unique as your finger print.  No two tongues are alike.

I'm thinking of other things I could say  but I think I'll just leave it at that.

I LIKE THIS THOUGHT

AMEN

COOL MORNING FOR DONNIE AND LINDA

Record low in Austin this morning.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT...THERE IS A WORLD BEYOND WISCONSIN

YOU DO NOT REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY

And, in my case, I don't remember it at all.

I think we could add that we, much of the time, see the future much worse than it, actually, turns out to be.....or does that just apply to Solbergs?

SILVER ALERT WORKS FOR WISCONSIN

You've heard of the Amber Alert that is used for missing children.  Now there's a SILVER ALERT for missing persons 60 years old or older.  The program went into effect yesterday.

IT'S A FACT!

Did you know that Wisconsin ranks #8 in the number of Farmers Markets.

you're doing something wrong"

SOUNDS LIKE CARL IS MAKING GOOD PROGRESS

"Recuperation seems to be progressing nicely.  I begin physical therapy today.  13 weeks.

I have been walking.  Distances are short.  Breathing returns to normal faster than I can remember.  I must still work on lung volume.

The only glitch has been drawing about a liter of fluid from my left lung.  Hope that's the only time.

I'm feeling better and better."

I think I caught a glimpse of Carl in this video.

TV MAGIC

I love magic so I watched the new Penn and Teller show "Fool Us" and thought it was great.  It's on at 7:00 (CDT), Wednesday nights, on the CW.

The same channel has another magic show on Friday nights called "Masters of Illusion".  That's also at 7:00 PM (CDT).

If you like magic, don't miss these shows.

HOW DRY IS IT?

NOTE TO ROGER: WE NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS

WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE WAITING IN LINE FOR?

They're waiting to get a table at Franklin Barbecue in Austin.

Can barbecue be that good?  Well, they're only open for lunch and when they run out of barbecue they close.  That means you'd better be there, in line, by 10 AM or earlier or you could stand in line for hours, in the hot Texas sun, and still not get anything to eat if they run out of food before you get to the front of the line.

Donnie and Linda haven't been there.  As Donnie says, they don't "do lines".

The place is listed as one of the 10 best restaurants in the USA.

WHAT ARE YOU WASHING YOUR HANDS WITH?

HOUSE BEAUTIFUL says antibacterial soap is not the way to wash your hands.  The triclosoan and tricarbon can cause antibiotic-resistant bacteria and it's not biodegradable.

Throw that crap out of the house and buy a bottle of vodka.  Pour one shot in a cocktail glass and another shot over your hands.  This will make hand washing safer, more fun and if there's any bacteria left alive they'll be too happy to cause you any problems.

TODAY'S WORDS OF WISDOM.....AND A LONG LIFE OF EXPERIENCE

IT'S A SAD DAY ON THE FARM

ROGER REPORTS:
"Sold the ponies.  They're headed to Whitehall.

Chico, the gelding, will be used in 4H by kids and the old mare will be some kids petting pal.

Sounds good but always hate to see them go."

YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO THE MIDDLE EAST TO DODGE THE BULLETS

We've got our own war zone.

I DON'T CARE IF THE QUEEN LIKES IT OR NOT: THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!

BYE BYE JULY!

Slow down summer!  July is over already?  One month left and then we get into "Back to School, Autumn Leaves, Trick or Treat and snow."  This is the time of year I start wishing I was back in South Texas!

HERE'S AN OLDIE I HAVEN'T HEARD IN A LONG TIME

HERE'S A "FEST" I COULD REALLY GET INTO.

I don't suppose Carl is quite ready for a long-haul to Key West but he and Kathy might want to keep it in mind for next year.  August is almost here and with it comes.......
You've just got to know that Key West, Lobster, Capt. Tony's and Sloppy Joe's is going to be a party to end ALL parties!  READ ALL ABOUT IT RIGHT HERE

THE AIRLINES AREN'T THE ONLY PRICE GOUGERS

The airlines have turned "gouging the customer" into an art form and the hotels are following their lead.

At the Wellesley Hotel in London it will cost you $127.00 for 3 bottled waters.  Yes, the hotel said it was no mistake.  They, actually, charge $127.00 for 3 bottled waters.  No booze in it.  Just plain old water.  Check this out.

HAPPY LIPSTICK DAY

YOU'VE GOT TO BE CRAZY

IT'S "M" DAY FOR MOON AND MEDICARE

President Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare into law on this date in 1965.  And, Apollo 15 landed on the moon on July 30, 1971.  This was not the same flight that Alice was on (you have to be really old to understand that:)

PAUL ANKA IS 73 TODAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAUL!

JUST GO POOP

Mrs. Clark teaches in elementary school.  She wasn't feeling well one day and a student in her class wrote her a note with a "health tip".

APPARENTLY TRAVELERS DON'T MIND PAYING THE HIGH PRICE OF FLYING

Every day airlines, around the world, squeeze 8.3 million passengers on their planes.  That's like the number of people who live in New York City.

YOU KNOW WHAT? THIS IS DAMN GOOD ADVICE!

MORE OF THE SAME TODAY

Graphical depiction of the weather story for today.

Wasn't yesterday a beautiful day?  We may get a shower late in the day but, otherwise, today should be a repeat of yesterday.  Get out and enjoy.

UNCLE BOB VISITS AUNT WILDA

Dorothy wrote, "I took this picture of Bob and Wilda yesterday.

They had a good visit and were very happy to see each other.  It has been a while since they were able to get together.

I had the day off and Bob was feeling good so it was a good day to go to Viroqua."

CATS CAN BE JERKS

Angela said she found a video on YOU TUBE she thought I would like called "Cats can be Jerks".  She tried to send it to me but couldn't get it to work so I looked it up.

I, actually, found a long list of video's of cats being jerks so I'll use this one to give you an idea of just how "jerky" they can be.

A NOTE FROM DONNIE

A Doris Day movie sent me to Wikipedia.  She's still alive at 92.  Has outlived four husbands and one child.  The Wikipedia bio makes her sound like a very weird lady.

REMEMBERING ST. OLAF

St. Olaf of Norway, who was born in 995, Died on July 29, 1030.  After his death, he was given the title of Norway's Eternal King.

Olaf was confirmed a saint in 1164 by Pope Alexander III which makes him a confirmed saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

I'm not quite sure why he was given sainthood since he's historically known to have been extremely violent and brutal.  During his lifetime they called him "Eric the Fat".

I'm beginning to think that they set the bar very low for saints in those days.

This is a very bad day for SOUTHWEST AIRLINES.

The FAA has fined SOUTHWEST $12 MILLION.  It's a serious offense.  The company is accused of flying planes without making needed repairs.

Check out this sinkhole in Louisiana.

This sinkhole was caused by a salt dome that collapsed.  CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS AMAZING MESS

Just 68 degrees in La Crosse at 10:00 A.M.

Even in Wisconsin, that's pretty cool for July.  With bright sunshine, the breeze feels pretty refreshing and if anything needs refreshing it's me.  Today is one of those day when I feel as old as I look.  Know what I mean?

Cats don't believe in showing a lot of emotion.

Seeing is NOT believing. Don't believe everything you see. Don't believe ANYTHING you hear.

Happy Birthday Jackie!

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

Happy Birthday to Jim Davis! The man who gave us Garfield is 69 today.

I must have read it wrong. I thought it was supposed to rain today but we're going to have SUNSHINE instead. You won't hear any complaints from me.

Graphical depiction of the weather story for today.

I mentioned, to Rita, the other day that most years, by late July, the lawns have turned brown.  Not this year!  We've had so much rain that they're still as green as can be.

I got such a kick out of the email Angela sent. She had a great "cats and dogs story".

"Those kittens love everyone.

Rick said that Lea, Kassi and Belle are fast friends.  They have rubbed up against most of the other dogs as well, but Belle is their favorite.

It scared me about half to death to watch but Lea bit and played with Belle's feet and legs.  Belle started to nibble Lea's belly.  Lea laid down right on her back and put her feet up in the air and played with Belle as she nibbled, gently, on her belly.

Belle's head is about the size of the whole kitten so I watched closely.  Belle knew to be gentle.  They were both completely trusting and having the time of their life."

Boy, Oh boy! I didn't wake up until 5 this morning.

I think I'll be well rested once I wake up.

I've had hepatitis and, believe me, you don't want it.

What??

This is an amazing video

Shot in Newfoundland, as the video is being made the iceberg collapses for some scary excitement!

It was on July 27, 1940 that the very first BUGS BUNNY cartoon was released. It was called "A Wild Hare".

You know what this means??  Even Bugs Bunny is younger than I am!!

I got a note from Ron.

"Interesting photo, on your webpage, of the fountain in Bern Switzerland.  It's a man holding babies and he's about to eat one of them.

I took a couple of photos of that fountain when we were there a few years ago.

The fountain was meant to scare children to mind their parents or they would be eaten.

"Bern is "bear" in German.  The story goes that the first person to visit the area saw a bear and the city was named after that event.

Also, Albert Einstein and his wife lived in Bern when he was a student."

A thunderstorm woke me up around midnight.

The weatherman says we have a 60% chance for thunderstorms today with a high near 75.  30 MPH wind gusts are also expected.

Isn't this the sweetest little kid you ever did see?

Believe it or not.  This is a future diplomat.

This is true love!

Angela says, little by little, dogs and cats are "getting acquainted.

"Roo enjoyed some time with the kittens.  I think the kittens enjoyed it too.  We've been working with him and this was the first time off leash."
