TOO MUCH RAIN

Except for when I was sick, I don't remember ever spending an entire day in my pajamas but that's what I did yesterday.

What was the use of getting dressed?  I sure wasn't going out in the rain that just would not go away!

It's so sad.  It's so dry in Texas, and the other southwestern states all the way to California.  And, here, the damn rain won't stop!

I hate to tell you but there's more on the way today.  THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI TODAY WITH FLASH FLOODS POSSIBLE.

Along with the rain we could get wind gusts to 45 MPH.

The storms will continue tonight into Wednesday, mostly south of I-90..

Hurricane Season starts today.

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

A tornado recently touched down in North Dakota and some really goofy guys were there to record it.

I don't think sitting in a pickup when a tornado is moving toward you is the smartest thing to do but, hey!  This is North Dakota.  Those guys aren't afraid of anything.

BAD NIGHT IN THE WINDY CITY

I'm thinking about Daniel and Jon this morning and hope they made it through the terrible storms in Chicago last night.

More than 115 flights cancelled at O'Hare, all the flights cancelled at Midway, golf ball size hail, lightening strikes, flooding.  They got it all last night.

SUPER CELL

Weather can be a very scary thing, at times.  This is one of those times.  It's a time-lapse view of a super cell forming over Newcastle, Wyoming.

DAMN MISERABLE WEATHER!

This is my 74th Spring and it's the most miserable one I can remember.

Thunderstorms will arrive with Donnie and some of those storms could be severe tonight with large hail and damaging winds.

We're also looking at one to three inches of heavy rain this afternoon through tomorrow evening.  This, of course, could mean more flooding.

BIG CROWD AT TOLEDO CONCERT

Donnie said he had to drive back to his motel in a thunderstorm after the concert in Toledo last night.  But, when he got there he was greeted with this.
I'm hoping that brings him good luck for his drive to La Crosse.

KEEPING AN EYE ON THE SKY

The forecast calls for a chance of severe storms after 4, this afternoon, and into the evening hours.  The biggest threat is Large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado.

WET WEEK

What have we done to deserve this weather?

Hopefully, we'll see some sun today and tomorrow and then, beginning tomorrow night, it's rain and storms the rest of the week.

With the rivers spilling out of their banks, the last thing we need is another wet week.

I'M ASHAMED THAT I'VE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT A LITTLE RAIN.

Sunday, April 27, 2014

YOU THINK IT'S STORMY AROUND HERE?? TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BABY!!

The weatherman is just full of nasty weather news.

THERE IS A CHANCE FOR ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS MONDAY OVER NORTHEAST IOWA AND SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN.

PERIODS OF RAIN AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR THROUGH TUESDAY WITH TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF AROUND 2 INCHES LIKELY, AND POSSIBLY UP TO 3 INCHES.

EXPECT RIVERS TO RISE AND FLOODING MAY OCCUR THROUGH THE WEEK.

STORM: RITA REPORTS

"Had to run some errands.  The power was out in Onalaska.  Several intersections and roads were underwater.  Our neighbors pastures are flooded.  The tiny little creek across the road is running like a river and overflowing its banks."

HAIL STONES AROUND RUSHFORD

HAIL STORM!

We just had ONE HAIL OF A STORM move through this morning.  I think this is just about the worst I've seen since I lived here.

The hail was beating on the windows so hard I couldn't hear anything else.  Thankfully none are broken or cracked but it sure made a racket as the stones hit the air conditioner.

The roofs are all white, covered not by snow but HAIL STONES.  The sky, literally, got as black as night.

I don't see any damage to cars in the parking lot but, from 5 floors up, it's hard to tell for sure.

Donnie and Linda are out of touch.

"An outcome of last night's thunderstorms is a failed internet connection at home.  I am reporting from the Dripping Springs public library."

Donnie and Linda must be living right.

Donnie reports:

"Nearly 3 inches of loud rain last night.  The most we've seen at one time in, maybe, two years.  It arrived perfectly to soak my newly-laid sod.

True to form, it was nowhere near the 5 to 6 inches forecast but it certainly was enough to get the creeks flowing."

Monday, March 19, 2012

No rain around here this morning.

Looks like all the stormy weather is southeast of us.  Radar was showing some pretty good thunderstorms moving over Janesville.  That, probably, put Bob and Lynne's yard work on hold.
