JACOB GRADUATES

Congratulations to Rita and Roger's grandson, Jacob, who graduated from UW-MADISON this past weekend.

Rita said, "We are proud", and they should be!  Jake is pictured with his Mother, Renee and sister, Cheyenne and he, and his brother Terrell are two of the nicest and most polite young men I have ever met.

Good luck, for the years ahead, Jake!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Don't forget to watch for the Mt. Rushmore float with Neil Diamond in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC!

HOLIDAYS

HOLIDAY FAIR is at the La Crosse Center through Sunday.  I enjoyed working at the hotel during Holiday Fair.  So many nice folks come every year to display their holiday items for sale.  You'll see a lot of great Christmas items if you go.

TV TIP

Don't miss the Mt Rushmore Float in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC.  Not only is it a spectacular float that should give South Dakota and the Black Hills some great coverage, but to make it an even more spectacular entry, the one and only Neil Diamond will be riding and performing on the float.

Did you see?  The seven billionth baby was born, this morning, in India.  I wish her luck!

Always good to hear from Gladys.

"Our weather has been really nice.  The leaves are hanging on pretty good.  I've had them picked up a couple times but there will be more.

Expecting company from Yankton on Sunday and Tuesday from Sioux City and Omaha."

The last time the Bassmaster Fishing Tournament was held in La Crosse was in 1983.  The four day tournament will return here, next summer, bringing in 100 fishing contestants, thousands of spectators and national television coverage and, of course, millions of dollars of revenue for the city.

The way things are looking, we could hit the dreaded FREEZING MARK Tuesday or Wednesday night.

One of Donnie's neighbors, Lance Armstrong, is putting his name to a big event in the Austin, Dripping Springs area this weekend.  It's the "Livestrong Challenge" to fight cancer.  It's a great cause and you can find more information right here.

FREE TICKETS TO SEE THE PACKERS PLAY NEW YEARS DAY
DETAILS HERE
Big doings in Decorah this week.
Their royal Majesties, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway will be in town, Thursday, to dedicate a new gallery at the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah and to celebrate the sesquicentennial of Luther College.  Now, that's something I would enjoy.  I'll bet there will be a Solberg or two in the crowd.
Sorry to show my ignorance but I thought Don Rickles was dead.  I'm happy to see that, not only is he very much alive, he's very much on tour.

He'll be at the Orleans Showroom in Las Vegas November 12 and 13 and it's already a sell-out.  And, on New Years Eve,  he'll entertain the folks at Harrah's in Atlantic City and, the last I heard, there are less than 10 tickets left for that show.

CHILI

STATE BANK (my bank) is holding its 20th annual CHILI COOKOFF this coming Saturday. ALL YOU CAN EAT chili for just $5.00.

They're hoping to raise $20,000, this year, to benefit DARE and GREAT, which are programs to help keep kids away from drugs and gangs. Some of the money raised will also go to Habitat for Humanity.

VERNON COUNTY FAIR IN FULL SWING

It started yesterday and runs through the weekend.

I'll bet Aunt Wilda has been thinking of "fairs gone by".  This used to be a busy time for her and Uncle Jim.

WHAT'S UP?

There must be someone doing something interesting this weekend but, if they are, I haven't heard about it.

My only news is that I woke up with an itchy toe.  I don't see any bite or rash.  I'll chalk it up to the fact that one of the symptoms of kidney disease is itchy skin and I've got that symptom down pat.

It's going to be a beautiful day so I might stroll downtown, this afternoon, and check out the benefit street party for the victims of the Jay Street fire.  A part of 5th Avenue will be blocked off for the event.  There will be a line-up of bands playing from noon to 8:00 PM.  It's free but they're asking for donations.
