I'm happy to see the city planning commission voted, unanimously, to recommend that 160 acres of Hixon Forest land, owned by the city, be designated a park.
The city bought the land from the University of Wisconsin on the condition it would be used as a park but when the, so called, "developers" see even one block of green grass that hasn't yet been paved over, their eyes light up with dollar signs. They want to turn it into another clump of ugly tract houses whose main feature is a gigantic garage with living quarters in the back. Development, my ass!
The highways, properties and utilities committee will meet tonight to discuss the issue.
