We're back in the flood mode again

The afternoon rains are causing problems.

We've seen an inch and a half of rain in La Crosse and there could be street flooding in La Crosse as well as Onalaska, French Island and Blue Bird Campground.

TOO MUCH RAIN

Except for when I was sick, I don't remember ever spending an entire day in my pajamas but that's what I did yesterday.

What was the use of getting dressed?  I sure wasn't going out in the rain that just would not go away!

It's so sad.  It's so dry in Texas, and the other southwestern states all the way to California.  And, here, the damn rain won't stop!

I hate to tell you but there's more on the way today.  THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI TODAY WITH FLASH FLOODS POSSIBLE.

Along with the rain we could get wind gusts to 45 MPH.

The storms will continue tonight into Wednesday, mostly south of I-90..

DAMN MISERABLE WEATHER!

This is my 74th Spring and it's the most miserable one I can remember.

Thunderstorms will arrive with Donnie and some of those storms could be severe tonight with large hail and damaging winds.

We're also looking at one to three inches of heavy rain this afternoon through tomorrow evening.  This, of course, could mean more flooding.

HIGH WATER AT RIVERSIDE PARK

I went to the park this morning.  In the foreground you can see the tiny bit of the dock still above water.  The rest is below the waves.

The river is running mighty full and fast.  I wouldn't want to be out on it in a boat right now.

WET WEEK

What have we done to deserve this weather?

Hopefully, we'll see some sun today and tomorrow and then, beginning tomorrow night, it's rain and storms the rest of the week.

With the rivers spilling out of their banks, the last thing we need is another wet week.

FLOOD

THE RIVER WILL STAY ABOVE FLOOD STAGE ALL WEEK.

THUNDERSTORMS

More miserable weather coming our way.  The National Weather Service says we might see a few THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON with wind gusts to 40 MPH.

Meanwhile, MISSISSIPPI RIVER LEVELS CONTINUE TO RISE and FLOOD WARNINGS remain in effect.

We've got too much water!

As of 9:00 P.M., last night, the river stage was at 10 feet.  Flood stage is 12 feet which may be reached by Monday morning.  The river is forecast to crest near 12.3 feet by Tuesday.

River levels are on the rise from all the rain we've had.

The National Weather Service says another round of rainfall from tomorrow night through Monday will bring 1 to 2 more inches of rain.  This will likely lead to potential flooding.

I used to love spring but this isn't much better than winter was this year.

STORM: RITA REPORTS

"Had to run some errands.  The power was out in Onalaska.  Several intersections and roads were underwater.  Our neighbors pastures are flooded.  The tiny little creek across the road is running like a river and overflowing its banks."

I still haven't made it down to the new Olive Oil store.

I have to get down there and check it out.  They not only have 40 different kinds of olive oil, they also have spices and vinegar selections.  They're located at 515 Main.

A cool breeze was coming through the window this morning.

In fact, the breeze was SO cool I had to SHUT the window!!  Temperatures were down in the 60's.

Our high today will only be around 75 so we can't complain about the heat.    While heat is not a big problem, rain could be a problem through Saturday.

It looks like the biggest chance for severe weather is tomorrow.   Strong winds, hail and heavy rain could cause flooding through Saturday.

SOUTH DAKOTA FLOODING

There are four eastern South Dakota counties under a flood warning until 10 tonight.  I noticed that one of the counties is Turner County.  That's our old stomping grounds.  Marion is located in Turner County.

THOSE POOR FOLKS IN NORTH DAKOTA

Minot is expecting more rain today.  At least 2,500 homes already have water in them and many more are expected to flood before this is over.

REPORT FROM CARL ON THE ROAD

"Monday and Tuesday Kathy and I drove across Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota.  It rained the whole way and all was completely saturated.  Rain in the Fargo area had tractor trailers slowed to about 35 MPH.  Although we didn't see any damage, many places had sandbags filled should they be needed."

HARD TO BELIEVE THE FLOODING STORIES FROM NORTH DAKOTA

They say this will be flooding of historic proportions this year.  Around Minot all 41,000 people have been told to move their belongings to upper levels of their homes.  It looks like the entire city will be under more than 3 feet of water.
