I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS...AMAZING!

JOHN LOPEZ IS THE GREATEST!

I want to share a website with you (CLICK HERE) so that you can see his magnificent work.

John was born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota and he does the most beautiful sculptures I've ever seen.  What makes them so very special is that they're all MADE OUT OF SCRAP METAL!!

THERE'S A NEW BIO OF VINCENT VAN GOGH ON THE BOOK SHELVES

It's "Van Gogh: The Life" by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith.  I love the Van Gogh paintings, his life and the fact that he was Dutch but I won't read the book.  I'm too old to start a book that is 953 pages long.  I'm also too weak to lift it.

If you have taken a photo that you think is really good, why not enter the Van Gogh Photo Contest?  Get details here.  With luck, you could have your picture hanging in one of the most famous art museums in the world.

I had no idea there was an art gallery at GRAND RIVER STATION, the new downtown bus terminal. Here's a website for the current show GRAND RIVER STATION GALLERY. You learn something new every day! I'll have to check it out.

3 CHEERS FOR STAVANGER NORWAY!!

I have never been able to figure out why the folks in this town get their shorts in such a knot over the little bit of graffiti you see around town. Actually, I'd like to see MORE of it. Not less. Some of these "renegade artists" show great talent.

It must be my Norwegian blood that lets me appreciate what the "powers that be" find so offensive

Every fall in Stavanger, Norway they welcome, with open arms, every graffiti artist around to come to town and paint away. They turn it into a huge celebration that draws huge crowds. Good for Stavanger!  Click here to see some photos

ART SHOW FOR LA CROSSE

Good Idea! The City's arts board wants to hold a downtown arts show. I'd love to see that happen. Read the story in the La Crosse Tribune.

ART IS WHERE YOU FIND IT

After they cleaned up the debris from the big downtown fire we had a few weeks ago this wall was left. It looked, to me, like the perfect abstract painting.

THIS IS SUCH A FASCINATING STORY

Have you read about the St. Johns Bible that was commissioned by the monks of St. John's Abby in Collegeville, Minnesota? Every word, from beginning to end, with all the illustrations, done by hand. You can read more about it by clicking here BIBLE and you can watch this clip with the artist.

The rain stayed away.

By the time I got to the park the sun was out and the sand sculptures were looking great.  I don't know where they find the people to do these works of art.  I wouldn't know where to begin.

I was really impressed with this one for the size.  It was more than twice as tall as I am.  There were tons of people in the park so, it was another success.  Thanks to Mother Nature for keeping the rain south of us.

Art Fair on the Green is a week from Saturday.

I hope it cools off by then.

Donnie and Linda were here, last year, when it was on and we took it in.

I've gone the last three or four years.  It's always a treat but not if we have heat indices of 110 or more!
