NOW THAT IT HAS STARTED RAINING IT'S, APPARENTLY, NOT GOING TO STOP

There is rain in the forecast every day and night through Wednesday.

RON SENT ME A ROAD RUNNER CARTOON AND THAT SET ME OFF ON A "CARTOONFEST".

It takes me back to those good old Saturday afternoon matinees.
We could have gone to a couple of years of Saturday afternoon matinees for what one box of popcorn costs today.

WE'RE HAVING A LOVELY APRIL SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON. THE MAY FLOWERS CAN'T BE FAR BEHIND.

GOOD ADVICE

ANDREW EVANS WORKS FOR NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TRAVELER AND HE RECENTLY VISITED THE BLUE BELL CREAMERY IN TEXAS.

You won't spend much time in Texas without coming in contact with Blue Bell ice cream.  It is so good that it, alone, is reason enough to visit the Lone Star State.

Willard and I visited the Blue Bell headquarters years ago and ate our share and more.  We bought T-shirts too.  I wore mine out before I threw it away.

HOW CAN I WORK THIS INTO THE CONVERSATION?

I'M HAPPY TO HEAR OUR AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS WILL BE WITH US A LITTLE LONGER

The FAA has delayed the closure of the towers in La Crosse, Eau Claire, Janesville, Oshkosh, Waukesha, Mosinee, Kenosha, Waukesha and Timmerman Airport in Milwaukee until June 15.  Maybe, by then, we can find some money to keep these towers open.

I'll bet I could find the money in about 15 minutes.  The government is spending plenty of money that's going to waste.  We could start by taking away the salary of every member of Congress.  If that isn't a waste of money I don't know what is considering what we're getting from them.

If it came to a choice of keeping the towers open for the safety of the flying public or keeping the Congress open to play their political games and count their campaign contribution money, I'd pick the control towers every time.

HEY! WE HAVEN'T SEEN A WARNING LIKE THIS FOR A LONG TIME!

EVEN THE PHEASANTS ARE SUFFERING FROM THE HEAT

Planning a pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota?  You might be interested in knowing that hunters killed 1.5 million pheasants during the last hunting season.  That's the lowest number in 10 years.  The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks department says the hot, dry summers are taking their toll on the birds.

"Doug, we are in Santa Fe.  Got here last ngiht.  Weather is beautiful.

GOING TO NEW YORK? TRY THIS OUT.

FUN FOOD FACT
After dinner at Serendipity 3 on the upper east side of New York, top off the meal with a Frrrozen Haute Chocolate.  It's prepared with 28 different kinds of cocoa infused with gold flakes and topped with edible 23 carat gold.  You'll be given a solid gold spoon to eat it with and an 18 carat gold and diamond bracelet that will remind you of your "sweet treat".

Oh, I'll bet you're wondering how much this little goodie will cost.  If you have to wonder....you can't afford it.  If you can afford it, you'll have to fork over $18,713.00.

This is, obviously, not the yummy chocolate sundae I used to make before my kidneys decided I'd had enough.

Lynne said, "Last Saturday we rode up with Derrick and Jennifer.  Today we'll go with Daniel and Jon.  Lucky we don't live farther away."

"DRIVING THE sAUDIS" BY JAYNE AMELIA LARSON IS A FUN BOOK TO READ.

It's taking me longer to read than it should because I'm reading two books at the same time but this fast paced 208 page memoir is a delight to read.

I suspect a few readers will have doubts that some of the events, in the book, are true.  I have no doubts, at all, that this is the real thing.

I had a brief encounter with a few members of the Saudi royal family when I was working at the airport and they're an amazing bunch of folks!

This is really a fun book that you'll enjoy.

FINALLY! IT'S REALLY GOING TO FEEL LIKE A SPRING DAY TODAY!

When I got up the temperature was still above freezing.  I looked at the forecast and it said, "April showers this afternoon".  And the temperature forecast is the best part.  They say the high will be around 62 this afternoon.  Our first day in the 60's!  Yes, Alice, there will be a spring after all.

I WOKE UP, GOT UP, WENT TO THE KITCHEN AND STOPPED. STILL HALF ASLEEP I COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT TO DO NEXT.

Oh yes!  How could I forget that the first thing I do is make the coffee.

Let me warn you.  When you get to the "natural causes" stage of life every move becomes a major production.

'TIS THE SEASON FOR TICKS AGAIN.

Another big crop of those nasty bugs that cause Lyme Disease are expected this year along with a healthy serving of mosquitoes.  Like any other season, you have to take the bad with the good.

For me, the "good" part of spring will be the first day we hit 80 degrees.  That's my comfort zone.

AFTER A HIGH OF 54 YESTERDAY, WE'RE GOING TO COOL BACK DOWN TO AROUND 45, FOR A HIGH, TODAY.

That 54 we had yesterday is right where we should be this time of year.  We'll be back into the 50's again tomorrow, after another chilly day today.

Tonight we'll get what our Texas friends would like to see.  A nice spring rain.

NOT MUCH SUN BUT WARMER TEMPERATURES WILL ARRIVE TODAY.

One look at the thermometer put a smile on my face, this morning.  Temperatures were ABOVE FREEZING!  That's a good start.

Of course, we can't have everything.  Our high will be near 50 today but we'll have increasing clouds with the warmer temperatures.  We could even see a few sprinkles between 11 AM and 1 PM

So, is spring, finally, here?  Not exactly.  The forecast for Friday night and Saturday calls for rain and Saturday night we could get a little bit of snow as the temperatures fall to near freezing.

I'm beginning to think the spring flowers don't have a chance this year.

THE FORECAST CALLS FOR A HIGH NEAR 43 TODAY. THAT WILL BE WARMER THAN YESTERDAY BUT STILL FAR BELOW WHAT IT SHOULD BE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Our average high for April 3 is 62 degrees so, if we do hit 43 today that will still put us 19 degrees below what it should be for this time of year.  No wonder the trees aren't in any hurry to show some green.

I SAW THIS IN READERS DIGEST AND GOT SUCH A KICK OUT OF IT I HAD TO SHARE IT

This is from Willie Nelsons new book, "ROLL ME UP AND SMOKE ME WHEN I DIE".

A man came out of an antique store carrying a large antique clock.  He bumped into a drunk and busted the grandfather clock into a thousand pieces.

The man said, "Why don't you watch where you're going?"  The drunk replied, "Why don't you wear a watch like everybody else?"

SPRING BREAK IS OVER BUT, APPARENTLY, NOT ALL THE KIDS GOT TANS

NOW IT'S APRIL AND I'M STILL WEARING THE PARKA.

The weatherman says the warmest it will get, today, is 31 degrees but the sun will be shining and, despite the cold air, it's rays are warm this time of year.  Warm enough to cause rising waters and potential flooding.  Low spots on secondary roads could, also, cause high water levels and possible flooding.

I see highs around 50 for Thursday and Friday but it drops back to the mid-40's with a chance for a little snow Saturday and Sunday.  Winter is determined to hang on this year.

WARNINGS ARE STILL UP FOR RISING WATERS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FLOODING

We saw a lot of flooded fields and ditches during our drive today.

there's still a lot of ice to melt.  We going to need a lot more warm weather to dry up those fields for planting.

Last year, at this time, I was walking around in a T-shirt.  This year I'm still wearing sweaters and my parka.

I THOUGHT THE FORBES REPORT ON THE 1,426 BILLIONAIRES IN THE WORLD WAS INTERESTING

If all those billionaires put their money together in one pot it would total $5.4 TRILLION DOLLARS and if they divided that money by the number of people living on the earth, each one of us would get $768.37.

By the way, never has so much money been held by so few people.  I don't know a lot but I know that's a disaster waiting to happen.

WISH YOU COULD HAVE BEEN WITH US FOR EASTER DINNER

Rita, Roger and I ate at ARCTIC SPRINGS near Galesville and it was out of this world good.  They were packed but the service was fast and outstanding.  Food was excellent.  The bar serves drinks with a very "generous" pour.  It was great!

After dinner we "took the scenic route" home through Galesville and then along the river, through Brice Prairie and Midway.  Past Grandma and Grandpa Terp's house.

A nice Easter except for the weather.  With snow on the ground, ice on the water and freezing temperatures it was more like Christmas weather than Easter weather.

CARL SENT AN EASTER GREETING

"A true friend is someone who thinks You are a good egg Even though they know You are slightly cracked." :)

Happy Easter!

I'M GOING OUT TO EAT WITH RITA AND ROGER.

I'd like to tell you where we're going but, as usual, I can't remember.  If I can remember where I've been, when I get home, I'll share it with you then.

THEY'RE FORECASTING A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 39 FOR TODAY

Better enjoy it because our next cold front arrives tomorrow with highs no better than 33.  That's right, kids.  April first and we'll be lucky if we get temperatures above freezing.  If that isn't an April fools joke I don't know what is!

AIN'T THIS THE TRUTH? YOU REMEMBER WHAT YOU WANT TO FORGET AND FORGET WHAT YOU WANT TO REMEMBER.

RON AND PENNY NEVER STAY IN ONE PLACE FOR LONG

Got a note from Ron this morning.  "We're in our Chicago hotel room after a ten hour flight from Basel, Switzerland.  We will fly home today."

Here's a quick look at Basel.

KIDS SAY THE DARNDIST THINGS

The pastor of this Baptist church had called all of the little children to the front of the church, dressed in their cute Easter outfits and had them sit around him.

He said "Today is Easter and you all look so handsome and beautiful. Today we're going to talk about the resurrection. Does anyone know what the resurrection is?"

One little boy raised his hand, and the pastor said "Please tell us what the resurrection is".

The boy, proud that he knew the answer, said in a clear loud voice "When you get one lasting more than four hours, you gotta call a doctor!"

It took a solid 10 minutes before the pastor could speak and there was so much laughter going on that his sermon was probably forgotten - but that boy's voice won't be.

THE WORLD....AT LEAST THE WORLD I KNEW.....IS GETTING SO OLD

Both Richard Chamberlain and Shirley Jones are celebrating their 79th birthdays today and Herb Alpert turns 78.

LIFE IS SO SHORT~EVERY MOMENT SO PRECIOUS~LETTING GO IS SO HARD

You can't help but wonder why but there is no answer to that.  Life is only this single moment and it can never be repeated nor replaced.  We just have to move on to the next moment, with hope, and be thankful for the moment that has passed.  There are no guarantee's.  Only this one moment in time.

About a week ago I was blessed to have a moment with Luna.  She was such a beautiful little soul.  Full of curiosity and wonder and brimming over with love.  The moment is now gone.  And, so is Luna.

She passed away from our world yesterday but I'm not sad.  I can see her playing, in heavens sunshine, with Thunder.  That makes me happy because, from what I've seen in my 72 years of life, I know that there are a lot more cats and dogs in heaven than there are people because they're wise enough to know there is only one moment and they make the best of it.  And, they hold no grudges, or hate, or regret when that moment is gone.

That moment is all there is.  That is all there has ever been.

The blessing is that I had that one moment with Luna and I thank Bert for bringing her into my life.

THIS IS NOT THE BEST WEATHER FOR EASTER BUT WE'LL HAVE TO MAKE DO WITH WHAT WE HAVE.

The forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with wind gusts to 25 mph.  Hold on to your Easter bonnet.

WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE

The National Weather Service says the warmer weather has resulted in a lot of melting snow and some of the drains and culverts are still blocked with ice and snow which is causing standing water in ditches and low spots and some of the water is running over roadways.

No real flooding is expected but you should remain alert for any wet spots.
