I heard an NPR radio report (the typical election man-on-the-street interviews) from MAGGIE'S CAFE IN ONALASKA.  We remember when MR. D's was where the national media hung out during every presidential campaign.  With Mr. D gone, apparently Maggie's now offers that hometown charm the media loves.

There's a great photo of Teddy Roosevelt in the LA CROSSE TRIBUNE this morning that was taken in 1904.  He was in La Crosse, for a couple of hours, while on a cross country trip.  Note State Bank and Doerflingers in the background.

In his New York Times column, Frank Bruni says the media has turned the campaign into a kind of circus by encouraging too many clowns.  That, about, sums it up.

The readers poll in the La Crosse Tribune, today, asks readers to grade the US Congress.

Of the more than 600 readers who have responded, so far, 77% give Congress an F.

OUR NATIONS CAPITOL SETS A GREAT EXAMPLE

The number of rapes was up 25%, in D.C., last year while reported rapes were down 5% in the rest of the country. Crime is alive and well in Washington D.C. and that doesn't even include the crimes being committed by the Congress.
