WYOMING KITTENS SURE ARE CUTE

Angela sent this photo of one of the babies and I just thought it was the cutest picture I've ever seen.

They're at that age where they discover something new almost every minute of their day and their eyes get as big as can be so they can take it all in.

ALL ANIMALS UNDERSTAND LOVE

Only humans are "smart enough" to understand and promote and perpetuate hate and outright cruelty.

This months Funny River Forest fire has been a tragic one except for four babies.

These are wolf cubs who were rescued by firefighters after they heard them crying for help from the fire.  They're making a new home at the Alaska Zoo.

WHAT A HORSE!!!!

I SALUTE THE STUDENT TRAVEL AGENCY!

The travel agency does just what the name implies.  They arrange educational trips for students and they have announced a great new policy.

They will NO LONGER PROVIDE TRIPS TO PLACES THAT ARE INVOLVED IN THE UNETHICAL MISTREATMENT OF ANIMALS.

The banned attractions, on the list, include SEA WORLD IN ORLANDO AND SAN DIEGO as well as destinations that include elephant rides and Tiger Temple in Thailand.

THEY GET A GOLD STAR FROM ME

HAPPY 73rd BIRTHDAY ERIC BURDON

Eric Burdon and the Animals will always be remembered for their biggest hit, "House of the Rising Sun", but my favorite Animals song was "We Gotta Get Out of this Place".

JUST SAW IT ON TWITTER

Bob Barker, who grew up on the Rosebud Rez about the same time Mother and Dad were there is willing to pay the price for his love of animals.  He's paying the price to fly three elephants to a sanctuary.  The price?  $880,000.

THE BEARS HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA

Go to sleep in the fall and don't wake up until spring.  That's the best way to get through this.  By 5 o'clock it was already pitch black outside.  We were blessed with a bit of sunshine while Roger and I went to the store.  Soon after I got home the dark clouds were back and by 5 the sun had moved on to warmer climes.

By the way, do you want to know something about black bears?  They're really quite shy creatures.  If you should run into one, as long as you don't freak out and scare the hell out of him, he'll probably turn around and walk away from you.

Don't believe me?  Get this.  For every person that's killed by a black bear there are 180 killed by bees and 60 are killed by domestic dogs.  And it's much more dangerous walking around on a golf course during a thunder storm.  350 golfers go to the great golf course in the sky, killed by lightening, for every poor soul that becomes dinner for a hungry bear.

The Houston Zoo has opened a new habitat for their elephants and they've taken some great shots of the happy residents in their new surroundings.  Take a look right here.

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS

Rita and Roger sent this one. I really got a kick out of it. In fact, I haven't had that much fun since I fell into the dumpster in Sioux Falls.

LEARNING TO WALK

I love elephants and this baby at the San Diego Zoo is just about as cute as they come.

SICK HORSES

I'm glad Rita and Roger don't have the horses to worry about any more. I see the deadly horse virus Eastern Equine Encephalitis has spread to central Wisconsin. The disease is spread by mosquito bites.
