On Twitter, this morning, a lady from the eastern part of the state said her birdbath was completely frozen...not just frosted over...when she checked it around 3 A.M.

That's a pretty good sign of winter, isn't it?  Another good indication that winter is moving in:  I put the long johns on yesterday.
