1. A BROAD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 400 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE
SOUTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IS PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS. SOME SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW IS POSSIBLE DURING
THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THIS
SYSTEM HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...30 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL
CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

I was really hoping Tropical Storm Nate would bring some rain relief to Texas but it's not to be.

TROPICAL STORM LEE is 220 miles from Houston and 366 miles from Austin and it's moving away from both.  Guess we'll have to find another storm to drop some water on friends and family.

At 4:oo A.M. Irene was 91 miles from Wilmington, North Carolina with 90 MPH winds.

I see New York has closed down their subway system and airports.

This will be a miserable weekend to be on the East Coast but, Oh! What a beautiful day in La Crosse!  Wish you were here.

Donnie and Linda have several friends living in North Carolina.  We wish them well.

It looks like the forecast track of Hurricane Irene will take it north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti this morning, near the southeastern Bahamas tonight and near the central Bahamas early tomorrow.  Then on to the east coast of the USA with landfall well to the north of Florida.

AccuWeather is now saying IRENE could become a Major hurricane by the time it reaches Florida.

800,000 homes without power in Puerto Rico this morning.  Hurricane Irene is on the move.  Current maps put it into Florida by Friday.

If she holds together, it looks like Florida could get a visit from Irene toward the end of the week.
