SAN FRANCISCO RENT

Renting an apartment in San Francisco is a bit more expensive today than it was in my day back in the '60 when I lived there!

The average rent for a studio apartment in the Golden Gate City, these days, is $2,100 A MONTH!

$$$$ MADNESS

HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVES
Think your gas prices are too high?  You could always move to Manhattan.  Almost nobody, who lives there, owns a car.  Of course, rent is a touch higher than it is around here.  In fact, the AVERAGE RENT IN MANHATTAN IS $3,418.00 A MONTH.  You might have already guessed that buying a home on that glittering island is simply out of the question.

This I gotta see!!

Joe Orso's column in the LA  CROSSE TRIBUNE, this morning, features a story about a HOUSE IN VIROQUA that has NO FURNACE and, yet, it's 63 inside while it's 8 below outside.  That warm, comfortable, inside temperature comes only from the sun and doesn't cost a single penny!!

I JUST FOUND MY DREAM HOME!

Donnie sent this website TINY TEXAS HOUSES that is really neat. Thunder and I could live, quite comfortably, in a couple of these mini-mansions!

Rita and Roger's driveway is just beautiful this fall.
But I hope Roger gets those apples picked before they freeze.  Or, maybe, he's waiting for Eve to do it.

Donnie says, "We now have an eerie addition to our nights.  Until the pipeline is buried, it is perched atop quite precarious-looking piles of railroad ties.  At night, when there are few other sounds out here, the steel pipes will occasionally generate a loud, echoing PING, like wind chimes.  The sound is rather pleasant, but it is so unnatural and unexpected that it's also rather creepy--puts us in the mind to look for space aliens.  I'm guess the rings are caused by the pipes settling on their supports, or the now-sudden and considerable temperature changes as the sun sets."

I WAS JUST THINKING

Donnie and Linda have to get out of dry Texas and move back to L.A.  I've got the perfect house for them.  Frank Sinatra's old home is for sale in the Holmby Hills section of town for 23.5 million.  It has everything they need.  Four bedrooms with three more for servants in the employees wing.  There's also an apartment for the chauffeur.  Their neighbors will be Danny DiVito and Rhea Pearlman.

What more could you want?

I WENT TO THE LIBRARY THIS AFTERNOON

I noticed the July issue of Architectural Digest has several pages of photos of Elizabeth Taylor's last home.  I could have been very comfortable in that house.  Mother even more.  It's all blues and purples.
