Got a note from Duane.
He says the forecast for the Black Hills is rain all next week too but it's a good thing for them. They've, already, been having grass fires. Too early in the season for that nonsense.
Rita stopped by this morning.
She was in town, trying to call Roger and her phone is broke so she had to come and use mine. I swear, those two are the busiest two people I've ever seen. I get tired just listening to all they have to do.
It looks like a NASTY day tomorrow.

I sure would love to be in the "home land" today.
If you like MUSHROOMS, you'll want to mark May 16-18 on your calendar.
The 32nd ANNUAL MOREL MUSHROOM FESTIVAL will be held, on those dates, in MUSCODA, WISCONSIN.
There will be arts & crafts, live entertainment, fireworks and you'll be able to taste every kind of mushroom dish you can think of including MUSHROOM BRATS.
Muscoda is just a nice 74 mile drive, from La Crosse, on highway 14 through Westby and Viroqua to Muscoda which is between Richland Center and Boscobel.
I never saw a dog I didn't love, or cat, or horse, or sheep, or donkey, etc. etc. etc.

So many great birthdays to celebrate today!
Have you ever noticed that the really beautiful people are born in May?
CAROL BURNETT turns 81 today, DUANE EDDY is 76
And, Bobby Rydell is 72.
CAROL BURNETT turns 81 today, DUANE EDDY is 76
And, Bobby Rydell is 72.
And, again I'm all confused.
All day, yesterday, I thought it was Thursday. I was sure it was Thursday until about 6:30, last night, when I turned on the TV and found out it was Friday.
I have no idea what happened to Thursday but since I thought it was Thursday yesterday, but it was Friday, this is now Saturday and I'm not sure if I missed Thursday or Friday.
It will take the better part of the weekend to straighten this out.
Today is GO BIRDING DAY!
I love it! This gives me a chance to play one of my favorite novelty songs and we'll add THE THREE STOOGES to it!

Looks like Donnie and Linda are following the crowd.
People are selling their suburban homes with the two car garage and moving into city apartments, closer to work, all over the country. Single family home construction is way, way down but the construction workers are still working because condo, apartment and high rise building is way, way UP.
I guess the physics books are right. As long as there is time there will always be change. After all, change is what time is.

River levels are on the rise from all the rain we've had.
The National Weather Service says another round of rainfall from tomorrow night through Monday will bring 1 to 2 more inches of rain. This will likely lead to potential flooding.

We're going to get a break today!
We'll finally see some sun today and tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's right back to rain Saturday night through Monday.
And, don't expect any warm-up. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 50's to low 60's with nighttime temps still in the 30's.
Seriously folks, I'm beginning to wonder if we're going to have a summer.

Laundry Day: The times have changed!
When we were kids Mother had to wait for a sunny day to wash clothes so she could hang them out on the line.
Today I decided, since it was raining, it was a good day to wash clothes. My outside chores will have to wait for another day.

I can hardly get my key in the lock without help and look what this damn kid can do with his fingers.
Rain woke me around midnight and I couldn't get back to sleep.
The forecast calls for rain all day with pretty cool temperatures for this time of year. The wind chill was 40 degrees at 1:00 A.M. and it was raining. Good morning to be inside.
Donnie reports summer has arrived in Austin.
Afternoon highs will range from 91 to 97 today through Sunday.
The sirens will sound at 1:45 this afternoon.
This is a MOCK TORNADO WARNING. It's a drill to make sure we're ready if the real thing comes along. I think we're safe in saying the snow is done for the season. Now the tornado months begin.

I know we need April showers but there's such a thing as too much
The forecast shows a 70% chance for rain today, 100% chance tonight and 80 % chance for tomorrow. Maybe that will start to green things up.
We noticed a lot of green lawns, on yesterdays trip, but there's not even a hint of green on the trees.

What a day we had!
Would you believe we went all the way to Stevens Point to get bird seed today?? What a beautiful day for a road trip. Lot's of sun and the temperature was just perfect.
Roger shopped, Rita shopped, we played tourist and took in all the sights. I had never been to Stevens Point or any of that part of Wisconsin so I enjoyed it so much.
Of course we stopped and ate and then they took me to the casino where I stood behind Rita and Roger and watched them lose their money. It's amazing how fast that money can disappear when you're having "fun".
Personally, I think if you want to throw money away it's much more fun to drink it up than stuff it in a one armed bandit so we stopped at the Teepee Bar in Tomah and had a hamburger and some of that good old moonshine!
Thanks to R & R for a really fun day.
Well, there goes all the fun!

I never thought I'd say "YUK" to Ice Cream but I've changed my mind.
Haagen-Dazs has two new flavors that will be in Japan's freezers in May. There's Tomato Cherry and Carrot Orange! That's right, folks, Ice cream that tastes like vegetables. For now, you'll have to go to Japan to try them out. No word on whether we'll get a chance to taste is here in the USA.
I can wait.
Thanks to Lonely Planet, I want to pass along a list of the 10 best drinking spots in the world!
CHECK OUT THE LIST RIGHT HERE
I'm pretty sure Donnie has been to, at least, one of the cities on the list; Mendoza, Argentina. I haven't visited any of these places, but then, I wasn't so much interested in the best drinking places as I was the MOST drinking places and I'm, actually, LIVING in one of those towns!
I slept in until 5:00 A.M.
Now that it gets lighter later, I'm staying up later (9:00 PM last night) and getting up later. These hours are more like the other humans!
Don't get scammed!
La Crosse folks have been getting calls, allegedly, from Publishers Clearing House. They, then, ask for your bank account information so they can send you a prize. HANG UP NOW!
Nobody is calling from Publishers Clearing house and your chance that anyone ever will call you from Publishers Clearing House is very close to NEVER.
On the other hand, if, by even the slimmest chance you do win something from those magazine folks don't forget how much I think of you.

We're taking a road trip, tomorrow, with Rita and Roger.
We're on our way to Plover, Wisconsin which is a suburb of Stevens Point. A little city of, about, 12,000 people. I know they told me why we're going there but, of course, I can't remember.
One thing about having a non-existing memory is that everything in life is always a complete surprise.
Radio ain't what it used to be.
Bill Bryson is so good at writing great human interest stuff and in his latest book, "ONE SUMMER-AMERICA, 1927, he has plenty of it.
One story was about radio back in those days. Of course, that caught my attention.
Radio was a new sensation back in the 20's and there weren't a lot of laws that covered broadcasting yet. For instance, anyone could own a radio station. All you had to do was buy the equipment and fire it up. No license needed! One of the first stations on the air was owned by Nushawg Poultry Farms of New Lebanon! Oh, I would have loved to work there!
And, there were some hilarious ideas folks got into their heads about radio. Lots of people complained about this "new evil" because they were convinced that the dead birds they happened to find had met their demise after being hit by radio waves!!
Now I want one of these!

Today is LEFTOVERS DAY!
Rita sent a ton of leftover turkey and other stiff home with me yesterday. I'll be eating those for the next couple of days so I won't have to cook.
This is really amazing
Having been a baton twirler in my youth, I can tell you that this is incredible skill. Not so much that the pens are small that a pen has no real weight to it. That makes a big difference in dexterity.
Thanks to Rita and Roger for a great Easter dinner!
I would have to say Rita outdid herself with the turkey. I would never have thought a turkey done in the crockpot would be any good but she got a recipe from someone and it was DELICIOUS! I brought plenty of it home so I'll have plenty for sandwiches this week.
Renee was there too and she's always great company so I would say Easter 2014 was a success.
I took some pictures but, unfortunately, I got super frustrated trying to remember how to get the pictures from the camera to the computer and ended up deleting them rather than saving them.
