I DIDN'T WAKE UP UNTIL 4:30 THIS MORNING
Actually, I don't know why I bothered to wake up then. My calendar is totally empty today. That's the way I like it. I've never trusted people who are always busy.
A THOUGHT
"The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?"

LIKE McNUGGETS WITH YOUR BIG MAC?
Well, if you're in Japan be warned. The McNugget's there won't taste exactly like the McNugget's here.
In Japan they're now serving TOFU McNUGGETS made with minced fish, carrots, soybeans and onions.

I GOT A NOTE FROM KATHY
"Just listened to 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' and couldn't wait to tell you that Carl and I had the pleasure of seeing the lead singer, George Staerkel perform at the Arizona Opry along with his wife, Brenda Barleen.
He's still just as talented and what a musician. He played several different instruments and sang all of his songs from the past.".
Here's another Token's song I love and I'll bet he sang this one for Carl and Kathy too.
And, Carl and Kathy will get a kick out of this.
The "Lion Sleeps Tonight" hit the top 40 charts when I was living in Key West and I remember it playing over and over and over again on the juke box at Sloppy Joe's. Whenever I hear that song I think of those warm tropical nights in the Keys.

MOVIE MEMORIES
Look what I found on the internet.
Alas, it's gone now but we spent many hours there when we were kids. Gladys and Lee owned the theater. Lee ran the projectors and Gladys sold the tickets and the popcorn. Once in a while Lee would let me come up into the projection booth and watch him work. That was, almost, like being back stage at Radio City Music Hall when I was a kid.
That narrow window, above the marquee, and a fan, was the only ventilation for the projection booth. No air conditioning in those days and those arc lamps on the old projectors threw out a ton of heat. It was pure torture spending two hours up there, while the show was playing, and I loved every minute of it!
SINCE WE'RE CELEBRATING THE LION TODAY LET'S GET SOME FACTS
The lion is the only cat that is really a social animal. Prides can consist of up to 40 animals. In the wild, the male lion's life span is about 12 years. Females make it to about 15. In a well run zoo, however, they live into their 20's.
Before the human came along, lions lived in North America, Europe and Africa. Now, they're only left in Africa and India and we're doing our best to kill them off too.

WHEN NOT TO SET THE DATE
If you know someone who is planning a wedding, tell them to forget January, February and March. According to The Facts Book, marriages that take place during those three months tend to have the highest divorce rates.

THERE'S SUCH A THING AS TOO EARLY
I like to get up early but 12:30 A.M. is even too early for me. The phone woke me at that ridiculous hour. I figure, if someone calls me at 12:30 in the morning someone has died or it's a wrong number. Fortunately, it was the later. Someone wanting to know if I had talked to Carter.
The only Carter I could think of was the former president and he hasn't called me in ages so I hung up but now I can't get back to sleep.
