HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHUCK BARRIS....84 TODAY!!
This is from back in the days when funny shows were actually funny. We only had two or three channels with real, professional performers on all three. And, it was all free!
Today we have 3,000 channels and you won't find an ounce of talent on any of them. And, you have to pay to watch it!

Thank you, MICROSOFT. I love you again.
Sometimes it pays to complain! Yesterday I was on a tangent with Microsoft for taking away my calendar and Radar. When I logged on this morning my calendar and radar was back and better than before.
Like Bert, I'm a Gemini. Gemini folks are very bad at "detail" work. We also tend to get bored easily so if you can't explain something, to me, in 10 seconds, or less, I'm sorry but my mind has moved on to other things.
Let it be known. I love Microsoft again.

JUST PRETENDING
According to Kurt Vonnegut, "We are what we pretend to be."
If I am what I pretend to be.....I'm not very good at pretending.

I GUESS I NEED A HUNK A HUNK OF BURNING DESIRE
X-football coach Lou Holtz says, "If you're bored with life, if you don't get up every morning with a burning desire to do things, you don't have enough goals."
I think he's right. I don't have any goals and I haven't had a "burning desire to do things" since 1962.

NO HIT ZONE?
Beginning June 2, the Gunderson Health Care Campus will be designated as a NO HIT ZONE.
Apparently they see so many instances where parents are hitting on their kids, kids are hitting on each other etc. that they thought this latest "security move" was necessary.
This is such a sad commentary on our society and our values. I guess, however, I shouldn't be surprised considering we live in a nation that has been in one kind of war or another nearly the entire 74 I have been on this planet. We seem to think the only way to address a problem is to kill it or get elected to congress so you can scream at each other like 10 year old children.
We may live in a "Christion country" but we don't even attempt to live according to the teaching of Jesus Christ. Instead of "loving thy neighbor", our answer to the non-stop violence and name calling that this country is drowning is to post "No Hit Zones".

THE END OF MAY
The end of May. I've lived through 72 of them and I still say it's the best month of the year. What was the best thing about THIS May? The best thing was that I'VE LIVED THROUGH 72 OF THEM.

IT'S ALMOST TOO TRAGIC TO THINK ABOUT
I remember Bob Tremain saying you could never get anywhere without a college education.
This morning, I read in the paper, that for the first time in history, there are more unemployed Americans who attended, at least, some college than people who graduated high school or dropped out of high school. But, I see here in town, we're spending millions and millions to build more parking lots for college students. Parking is NOT our problem, folks.

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE BOOMSTICK?
The TEXAS RANGERS have it at their ballpark. A one pound hot dog with onions, chili and cheese on a special bun. The price tag is as big as the wiener. $26.00 for each dog. Junk food and gluttony at an outrageous price. Long live America.

I HEAR YOU
I just got an email that says I should get my hearing checked on a regular basis because there is a link between kidney disease and hearing loss.
Let me set your mind at ease. I hear more than I really care to. If you're talking to me and I don't respond it's not that I don't hear you. It's that I'm ignoring you. (And, I can hear Aunt Wilda saying, "He sounds just like his Mother.")

My hearing is certainly poor, but like you, I will not get hearing aids because there just isn't that much I care to listen to.

DYING IDOL
"American Idol" ain't what it used to be. Ratings are sagging this season and, for the first time ever, the show wasn't #1 in its time period last week. The show was driven from that spot by "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS.
The TV folks are too young to remember the old vaudeville rule of quitting while you're still ahead. Always leave the stage with the audience wanting more. Nowadays the motto is "to hell with the audience. Milk a cash cow until you squeeze out the very last buck." It's all about the money, honey.

LOT'S OF LOVE IN LA CROSSE
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the headline that said La Crosse had been named the most romantic city in the USA. Reading below the headline I discovered the dubious "award" was given by a company that rents movie and video games out of kiosks.
La Crosse was given the award because folks around here have rented more romantic comedies than any other city. Maybe, with that many people needing a movie to find romance, it could also be seen as the least romantic city in the USA.
But, hey, an award is an award and we'll take it any way we can get it.
Who did we beat out? It's an interesting list.

ONLY IN WISCONSIN
Wisconsin has lost private sector jobs 6 months in a row and we're the only state in the nation that's been able to pull that off.

WHAT SHALL I DO?
My Google calendar says I have "no events scheduled today". That's just the way I like it. I've had just about all the events I need for this lifetime.

BUY YOUR WAY TO THE USA
What's the quickest way to the USA? Click here for an interesting article from NPR that says Rich Chinese can get a green card within three years if they invest big bucks here. Rich folks there say they'd like to leave China because, "Income inequality is staggering, corruption is systemic and public protests are a daily occurrence." Well, they should feel at home here because that sounds a lot like the USA.

SOMEBODY ON TWITTER WANTED TO KNOW...
"How do you define your function in life?"
Are they kidding? How the hell do I know? I don't have any function in life. I don't even know what I'm doing here.

I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!
The Drudge Report says, this morning, that IBM is working on a computer that will be able to read your mind and, they say, they'll have it up and running in the near future.
In the meantime, I'll be more than happy to give you a piece of my mind any time you want it.
