Donnie is chilling out today.
"Unbelievably cool weather. High today, in mid-July was just 76. Haven't seen a July this cool in, at least, five years."
Carl reports his recovery seems to be going fine.
"Breathing is improving and bruising is fading. Weakness and range of motion seem to be issues yet. My first post-op appointment is Monday."
There's a new store coming to town.
It's not open yet but when it does I'll be trying it out. How can you NOT check out and Ice Cream and Popcorn shop.
It's located just west of the Cathedral parking lot.

I called Uncle Bob today to give him Donnie's address.
I can't remember anything and he can't hear. The conversation sounded a little like the "Whose on First?" that Abbott and Costello used to do.
This is too bizarre
This is Joaquin Phoenix's forehead. Turn your head sideways and look at the wrinkles. Now, you tell me he isn't copying Donnie with goofy face pictures.

What a day! Flowers and Fair.
I went up to the ranch to see Rita's gardens and she outdid herself this year.
Everywhere you look it's a riot of color.
The old girl knows what she's doing once you get her going!
When the tour ended we went to the Legion for taco salads with Rita and Roger's neighbor, Larry.
And then it was a complete surprise to me when we stopped off at the Fair.
Like I mentioned the other day, I hadn't been to the fair in years so we took in all the animal barns and didn't step in anything nasty!
Talk about having fun, look at the joy on these faces!!

Is there a mall bigger than Mall of the Americas?
There will be soon
And this is almost too big to be true. 48 million square feet. The worlds largest indoor theme park. 100 hotels and apartments. It will cost $20 BILLION dollars. It will join the worlds tallest building in Dubai.
Donnie won't like seeing this.

What could it be?
A 260 foot wide crater has been discovered, by air, in Siberia. What caused it? Who knows? They're sending a team to get a closer look.
Just when I think TV can't get any worse, along comes VH1
Their latest attempt to get your attention, as you click your way through the 20000 channels of crap your cable system pumps into your living room every day, is a show called DATING NAKED.
If you like naked butts, this is the show for you. There will be lots and lots and lots of them.

If it's Fair time, autumn can't be far behind.
I haven't been to the fair in years. The last time I was there I went with Donnie and he stepped in really disgusting stuff. It was all over his shoes. A real mess.
We've never gone back.
So, if you go, a word of caution. Pick up your feet. Watch your step. Wear old shoes. Don't even think about going bare foot.
Sometimes you just have to ask yourself. "How do I smell?"
Believe me, this video will give you some new thoughts about body odor.

I wonder if THE BEACH BOYS know how far Arcadia, Wisconsin is from a real beach?
Actually, they're not boys any more. They have aged right along with me and they're now "Beach Old Men". Be that as it may, they can still take us back to our youth with those wonderful old songs and they're going to be in Arcadia, next month, to sing them.
They're headlining Ashley for the Arts sponsored by Ashley Furniture along with a long list of other fine local companies.
There's also a long list of other artists that will be performing at the event on Friday and Saturday August 8 and 9. The Beach Boys will take the stage on Friday night at 8:15.
The admission price for both days is an unbelievable $5.00.

Duane did yesterday.
"Power outage at West River Electric substation. I was at Tractor Supply and they gave me a flashlight to shop. That was an experience!
It was 43 in the hills Monday night. 44 here in town. No wonder the furnace clicked on!"

How many of you know about the nation of Kiribati?
I'll bet most of you have never heard of it so I'll tell you.
Kiribati is an island nation in the central Pacific almost smack dab on the equator.
I bring this up, today, because today is a holiday in Kiribati that I think we need to have in the USA. This is ELDERLY MEN DAY IN KIRIBATI. Let's hear it for ELDERLY MEN everywhere!!!
The best news of the day, yesterday, came from Carl.
"I'm home!!!
Came home Sunday afternoon. Health seems to improve by the hour. Still a long way to go but things are looking up. Thanks for Cards, letters, etc.
Carl"

A cool day in the Coulee but hotter than hell in Texas.
Temperatures are in the low 70's around the Coulee Region this afternoon.
It's a whole lot hotter in one of my former home towns. 105 in Edinburg, Texas.
Donnie and Linda are just about as hot at 99 in Austin, Texas.

Being in and out of Wisconsin all my life, I FINALLY made it to Madison for the very first time just a few months ago.
I still have not made it to Milwaukee except for a quick landing at the airport after some heavy icing on the wings of a flight, many years ago, between Chicago and La Crosse. Maybe I should try to make it there before I "fold my wings" for the very last time. This short video makes MKE look kind of fun!
Could this be our first taste of autumn??
It won't feel much like summer, around here, today. With Increasing clouds and a chance of afternoon showers, our high will only get up to about 64 this afternoon.
Our average temperature for mid-July is around 85 so with temperatures 20 degrees below that we'll feel the chill!

I'm really going to have to do something about my memory loss.
I forgot that yesterday was Saturday so I missed watching CHEATERS and COPS. The only good reason for having a TV set is to watch CHEATERS and COPS. Don't tell me I don't know good entertainment when I see it.
I saw a TWEET on TWITTER that says "Top 10 lists are crazy because nobody cares about 2 thru 9.
I never thought about it but it's true. You're at the top of the list as the best or the bottom of the list as the worst. Between the two it's so-so. So-so's are just plain boring. That's why I'm proud to be on the bottom of anyone's list.

Which airlines fly the most passengers?
When I was working at the airport in Houston, I took a tour through the SOUTHWEST headquarters. You know what? The employees that work on the ground are as happy and have as much fun as the air crews do. Southwest is just plain fun to fly.
