I love watching Antiques Road Show on PBS and I heard the funniest line I've ever heard on the show last night.
A gentleman had brought in a "family heirloom" which, he said, had been in the family for as long as he could remember.
The appraiser told the collector what he knew about the antique item and then asked the gentleman if he'd like to know the value of the item.
The man said, "Yes, I'd like to know what it's worth for insurance purposes but, being a family heirloom, I would never consider selling it."
The appraiser said, "Would it surprise you if I told you it was worth $35,000.00?" The collector said, "Yes that would surprise me and the item is now for sale!"
