WEATHER UPDATE

WEATHER ALERT for WI - La Crosse Count.

HIGH IMPACT BLIZZARD NOW TO AFFECT MORE OF REGION.

A DANGEROUS BLIZZARD IS DEVELOPING & WILL MOVE ACROSS EASTERN IA. PORTIONS OF SE MN & MUCH OF WESTERN AND SOUTHERN WI TONIGHT.

LASTING THROUGH THUR EVENING. THE STORM SYSTEM IS ALREADY PRODUCING HEAVY SNOW IN THE CNTL PLAINS.& IS HEADING THIS WAY. SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN THIS EVENING.BECOMING HEAVY OVERNIGHT.

PLAN ON THE HEAVIEST SNOW FALLING FROM NE IA.INTO SW & CNTL WI WHERE SNOW RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.PARTICULARLY BETWEEN MIDNIGHT &LATE THURSDAY MORNING.

CONFIDENCE HAS INCREASED THAT BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL BE SEEN NEAR THE I-90 CORRIDOR & SOUTH. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY TRUE IN THE OPEN AREAS & RIDGE TOPS WHERE THE COMBINATION OF 6-14 INCHES OF SNOW & STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN DANGEROUS WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. THUS THE BLIZZARD WARNING HAS BEEN EXPANDED WEST ALONG THE I-90 CORRIDOR IN WI & MN.& FOR ALL OF NORTHEAST IA. HOWEVER WE ARE ANTICIPATING THE MOST LIFE THREATENING IMPACTS & CONDITIONS IN EXTREME NE IA INTO SOUTHWEST WI.

IT CAN NOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH THE SEVERITY & HISTORICAL NATURE OF THE SITUATION FOR THOSE LIVING IN SE MN AND NORTHEAST IA.INTO SW & CNTL WI. PROTECT YOURSELF & OTHERS BY STAYING HOME.  GETTING TO YOUR TRAVEL DESTINATION BEFORE THE SNOW BEGINS.& PREPARING NOW FOR SIGNIFICANT BLOWING/DRIFTING & WHITEOUT CONDITIONS.
