Of course Roosevelt had his ranch in the NORTH Dakota badlands after, his wife, Alice died (of kidney disease, by the way). When Alice died Teddy thought his life was over but life on the Dakota prairie turned him around and later he commented that, of all the places he's seen there was nothing like Dakota.
