I was looking through the 2010 census, this morning, and compared the difference in population between Sioux Falls and La Crosse. I knew Sioux Falls was bigger but was surprised to see that nearly 95,000 more folks live in the Sioux Falls metro area compared to the La Crosse metro area. I don't think there were more than 95,000 living in the whole city when we were kids growing up around there.

You can probably find the historical population figures, but I can't imagine SF having more than 50,000 people in the 1950s. But I might be wrong--it's been known to happen.
