On this special day, I decided to do a bit of research on squirrels and here's what I found out.
The squirrel belongs to the RODENTIA FAMILY which makes up 40% OF ALL LIVING MAMMALS so, to say they have us outnumbered is an understatement. There are 365 species of squirrel, from the ground squirrel and tree squirrel to the gopher, groundhog and prairie dog to say nothing of Bullwinkles buddy, Rocket J. Squirrel.
During a winter storm a squirrel may not leave his nest for days. That kind of sounds like me.
The squirrel has eyes on the side of their head to give them a wide field of vision. In other words, they see in Cinemascope (young kids won't know what that is).
Besides nuts, the squirrel with eat bird eggs (sunny side up) along with a side dish of bugs, nuts, fruits and seeds.
