At lunch with some visiting friends, I remarked that Linda often joins me to watch TV golf tournaments on weekends, even though Linda has never played. Even I am not that interested in the tournies, but it is about the only thing on TV that is quiet, slow, and even restful. And my friend reported a news item on therapy for Alzheimers patients based on the same conclusion: patients are urged to watch golf, precisely because it does not overly excite, but rather relaxes them.
Note that watching (or even playing) golf does not prevent mental disorders!
