One good thing came from the virus.  I learned how to burn a disc, thanks to Carl.  Now, all my pictures are backed up on two discs.  All the rest of the stuff can be retrieved but if you lose the pictures you can never replace them.  There were over a thousand on the computer so I'm glad they're now copied.
