WOULD YOU TRUST THIS MAN?

If this isn't an extremely suspicious looking person I don't know who is.

HOT "D"

Dallas hit 100 again today.  That makes 36 days in a row at 100 or more.

FROM RON:

"You wrote about the Mustard museum in Middelton WI today. Penny and I visited the museum after we stopped to see you this past May. We have also been to the Vinegar museum in Roslyn SD."

COOLER WEATHER?

I see highs in the 70's for next week.  Maybe cooler days are right around the corner.

SLEEPLESS IN WISCONSIN

Woe is me!  I was up most of the night.  Slept good for a couple of hours and then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.  I never had trouble sleeping until the kidneys started to fail me.  It's a common symptom of the diseased and I don't like it!

Meanwhile, there are new warnings, in USA TODAY, about kidney and liver damage caused by using over the counter drugsClick here to read the article.

I'VE GOT FOOD ON THE BRAIN TODAY

Found a recipe from one of Donnies favorite places, WHOLE FOODS.  Click here for Honey Mustard Salmon Salad.  It sounds really good and it's something I could eat.

FIRES

We haven't heard much about forest fires this season but two were started by lightening in the Black Hills yesterday.  One of those fires, near Bear Mountain, was still not under control early this morning.

MUSTARD DAY!

There's only one place to be on NATIONAL MUSTARD DAY and that's at the NATIONAL MUSTARD MUSEUM in Middleton, Wisconsin!

WHAT'S COOKIN'

This looks like a great recipe from allrecipes.com Lemon Grilled Chicken

BEER FESTIVALS EVERYWHERE YOU GO!

Check this website BEER FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD-2011 to check them all out.  It's amazing how many there are and there's sure to be one near you.  For Wisconsin it's The Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison a week from tomorrow.  More than 100 brewpubs and microbreweries represented on the shores of Lake Menona sounds like a party to me!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEIL ARMSTRONG: 81 TODAY

BODY

Three men will be charged, today, with hiding a corpse on the North Side of La Crosse.  The body was found, yesterday afternoon, in Red Cloud Park.  That's a new one on me.  One man was quoted as saying not very many people visit that park.  I can believe it.  I've never heard of it.

ARE THE BANKS OPEN IN WISCONSIN ON BEER DAY?

LEFSEHENGE

Please note in Wisconsin history: This is the date, in 1850, that the Order of Druids was formed in Wisconsin.  This was the Norwegian synod of the Druids.  Lutefisk, Lefse and lots of dancing.

TEXAS DROUGHT

The drought has gotten the best of Donnie and Linda.

I got this picture with a note:

"To hell with yardwork".

KIDS NEED SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Catholic Charities is accepting donations, today from 11 am to 6pm, at the La Crosse Center for school supplies.  Notebooks, pens, crayons,  backpacks and whatever else you can think of is needed.

There are also drop off bins at Kmart, ShopKo, Office Depot, Inland Label and Marketing and the UPS Store.

GOOFY SCANDINAVIANS

Did you read about the Swedish guy who's been arrested for trying to split an atom in his kitchen??  As a hobby, he says, he tried to build a nuclear reactor and had a bit of a meltdown on his stove.

I'm a bit surprised about this.  Sounds to me like something a Norwegian would be more likely to do.

TEXAS DROUGHT

The news just keeps getting worse for Texas.  Time for Donnie and Linda to think about plan "B" I think.

The Climate Prediction Center announced, today, that it looks like La  Nina will be returning within the next six months.  La Nina is the culprit that contributes to dry conditions over Texas and, if it does return, it means the Texas drought is far from over.

TV

No Jerry Lewis on the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon this year??  Labor Day just won't be the same.

CLIMATE

Our average temperature, in La Crosse, for July, was 77.6 degrees which is 3.6 degrees above normal.  We were just a touch above our normal rainfall for the month as well.  Not a bad month, overall, except that I had to run the A/C more than I like.  I'd rather have the open windows with the fresh air but it was a little to warm for much of that.
