AT LEAST, I'M DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!

On a recent edition of NPR's Science Friday the guest was Dr. Andrew Weil, author of his new book "Spontaneous Happiness".  Dr. Weil says, "If you really want to find some feeling of peace and well being you have to turn off your TV and stop reading magazines and newspapers."

AMEN BROTHER!  If you really want to know what's going on in Iran, for instance, one recent 300 page book that an author has spent two or three (and sometimes more) years researching and documenting will tell you more about the country, its people and why they hate the USA than a lifetime of 30 second soundbites designed to be outrageous and shocking so that they can entertain you long enough to sell you that toilet paper.

LOUSY WAGES

I've said, since I moved back here, that the cost of living in Wisconsin is outrageous compared to the wages paid here.  More expensive than anywhere else I've ever lived.

Now, I see, it's not my imagination. The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance says Wisconsin wages are 14% less than the national average.

Here's a map showing the snow totals for the first big snow of the season.  As you can see, all the heavy stuff stayed north of La Crosse.

It's still raining in Dripping Springs, this morning, and the forecast calls for more rain today, tonight and tomorrow.

SNOWY OWL AIRLINES?

A quartet of snowy owls has landed at the La Crosse Airport which is not a good place for the big birds.  There are a lot more snowy owls around, this winter, than there usually are.  It's an interesting story in the La Crosse Tribune this morning.

The India Curry House of Rochester is bringing the taste of India to La Crosse.  The restaurant plans to open, sometime, in February in Jackson Plaza.  Check out their menu here.
