3 or 4 people wounded and the shooter killed in front of the Empire State Building shortly after 8 AM (CDT). I happened to be on Twitter, at the time, and the tweets about the shooting started coming within minutes.
I turned on the TV and watched CBS doing "happy talk" with little jokes and giggling. As far as I could figure out just killing time. NBC and ABC both had rock bands on which were performing and being interviewed. I kept watching for a good half hour and never did hear a word about the shooting. Saw a hell of a lot of commercials, however. By now, the story was ALL OVER the internet.
Why don't the "big three" just turn out the lights and go home?
