Kenny Rogers turns 74 today. Kenny was born in a town I used to call home, Houston, Texas. Kenny has had so many hits, it's hard to pick a favorite. But, if I had to it would be "Islands in the Stream" which he recorded with Dolly Parton in 1983. The song, by the way, was written by the Bee Gee's.
Jackie De Shannon also has a birthday today. She was born in Hazel, Kentucky 68 years ago today. She has, also, had a good string of hits. My two favorites are "What the World Needs Now is Love" and "Put a little Love in your Heart". Jackie, for a time, dated another singer you might have heard of....Elvis Presley.
