The New York State Fair opens August 25th with a "mouth-watering food delight". It's a 1500 calorie quarter pound hamburger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion served on a glazed doughnut.
If that doesn't make you puke you can attend the Wisconsin State Fair, which opens Thursday in Milwaukee, and enjoy chocolate covered bacon on a stick.
Then head for the Texas State Fair, opening in Dallas on September 30, and wash it all down with some fried beer!
If you don't know what fried beer is, you just haven't spent enough time in Texas. They squirt the beer into a pocket that's carved out of a pretzel-like dough. You throw the dough in 375 degree oil for 20 seconds. Watch it closely. No more than 20 seconds or you lose the alcohol which, of course, totally spoils the delicacy and you have to start all over again.
