DID EVERYBODY SURVIVE TURKEY DAY?

A note to Donnie and Linda
How long can you keep the Thanksgiving left overs?  WCCO says 3 days is the limit and if you're in doubt...throw it out!  GET MORE FOOD TIPS BY CLICKING HERE

Rita and Jacob are decking the halls and putting up the Christmas decorations today.  I expect to get pictures.

PLEASE NOTE: The Royals are decorating too. They already sent pictures.

Hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving.  Rita made a tasty, traditional, Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. I brought home lots of leftovers!

So far I hadn't  tried to save any of my pictures to the new computer.  I've been afraid to tackle it because I have no idea what I'm doing.  This morning, I threw caution to the wind and gave it a try.  It was surprisingly easy to come up with this shot of Rita and Roger's tasty bird.

I'm slowly figuring out how to navigate through Windows 8.  The more I learn the more I like it but, believe me, it's not easy to get used to.

Ron called, yesterday, wanting to know how I was getting along with the new windows.  He's in the market for a new computer.  While Windows 8 is tricky, at first, it's here to stay so we might as well learn to live with it.
We, probably, won't get above freezing today but, at least, we'll see some sunshine.  Tomorrow looks like a better day with high's close to 40.

They may be a bit "stuffy" in some ways butiwhen it comes to comedy it's hard to beat the Brits.

Donnie writes:  "We had some three dozen robins in the yard, frolicking in the rain.  One day only.  They were, probably, going farther south."

George Harrison died 12 years ago today.

I'll pass on this swing.  This is Ecuador.  Wonder if Donnie has seen it.

TURKEY DAY IS HERE

It's going to be a cold Thanksgiving in La Crosse.  Temperatures won't get out of the 20's but, at least, we'll have some sun.

In much of the south it won't be a lot warmer than it is here.  Atlanta and Myrtle Beach won't get out of the 40's today.  This is the coldest Thanksgiving the south as seen it years.

It was 33 degrees in Dripping Springs this morning but Donnie and Linda will enjoy temperatures in the low 50's this afternoon.

The Packers will play Detroit in 20 degree weather with snow showers this afternoon.

If I could be anywhere in the world this morning where would it be?  Well, you know me.  I'd rather be in the warmest place I could find and, this morning, it would be Panama City, Panama where it was 77 at 5 AM.

Hey!  Here's a deal for you.  Make a copy of this and get a free coffee!

The smart folks waited until today to fly home for Thanksgiving.  Nation-wide there are, virtually, no delays or cancellations at any of the major hubs this morning.

Happy Birthday to Barry Gordy, the founder of MOTOWN RECORDS, who brought us some of the greatest rock stars of all time.  He's celebrating 84 years today.

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful holiday with lots of good food and, if you're living in Wisconsin, Packers football!

ALL DRESSED UP FOR
TURKEY DAY

The Brits have such a quirky sense of humor...and if you think this is funny...wait until you see what I have for you tomorrow!

Here's hoping that your Thanksgiving day is filled with the same family love and joy that you'll find at this house.

Drive carefully over the river and through the woods!
Look at the beautiful Christmas lights they have in Singapore!  Click on the picture for a larger view.

I see the mall will open at 8 o'clock tonight and most of the stores will be open by midnight.  I wonder why we don't stop calling this "the Christmas holidays" and start calling it what it really is, "The Festival of Greed".

If you're planning at trip to Las Vegas in the coming year, as a public service, I want to pass this tweet along.

Rita called yesterday to tell me about all the good things we'll have to eat today.  Potatoes, lefse and dressing with lots of salt.  She was concerned that it's all stuff I'm not supposed to eat.

I told her not to worry.  I'm going to eat it all.  Have you read the obituaries lately?  Have you noticed how many people in their 70's die?

Let's face it, kids, I'm not going to have that many more Thanksgivings and I'm going to enjoy every one that I have left.  Give the diet a rest for one day.  Like Vesta used to say, "who the hell wants to live to be 100?"

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

HERE'S TO THE BIRD!!

The only thing in my inbox, this morning, was three emails from Walgreen's.  Your inbox, you know, is a very good indication of who your real friends are.

PBS will broadcast a special program, tonight, you might be interested in.  "The Driftless Zone" is a documentary on the area in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois that was not touched by the glaciers that covered the much of the land during the ice age.  Abbie Church and Tim Yager of the La Crosse area Mississippi Valley conservancy helped in the production of the program.  The show will air at 7:00 PM.

If you have friends, or family, flying over the holidays you might want to CLICK HERE to see the Flight Aware Misery Map.  It will show you up to the minute cancellations and delays at the major airports around the country.  If you run your mouse over the hubs you'll see which routes have delays and which routes are on time.

According to Triple A, around 873,000 Wisconsin folks are expected to travel over the Thanksgiving holiday.  That's down 1.5% from last year.

Another bitter cold day is coming our way. Even with sunshine, we won't get any warmer than 25 and, with the gusty winds, it will feel more like 15.

I like Jimmy Kimmel and, even though this reminds me of David Letterman, it's
cute.

Well, here we are.  The day before Thanksgiving.  Everybody's thinking about the same thing.

THE BIRD IS THE WORD, BABY!

(And to think they used to pay me for playing this stuff.

Donnie's comment: "The Surfin' Bird clip is sent on to many music lovers".

The day before Thanksgiving, a man in Jacksonville calls his son in
San Diego, and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you
that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough."

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son asks nervously.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the father says.
"We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you
call your sister in Denver and tell her."

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "Like heck
they're getting divorced," she screams, "I'll take care of this!"

She calls Jacksonville immediately, and screams at her father, "You are
NOT getting divorced.  Do not do a single thing until I get there.  I am
calling my brother back, and we will both be there tomorrow .  Until then,
don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife..... "Okay," he says,
"they're coming for Thanksgiving.... and paying their own way."

I love this Tweet!

YESTERDAYS POSTS

This does not sound good:
The National Weather Service has issued a warning for tonight.

WIND CHILL VALUES WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS BELOW ZERO TONIGHT.

Ritz Crackers has a new look and I love it.

It was 33, when I got up this morning and it won't get any better.  In fact, it will get worse.  The temperature will fall to around 20 by 5 P.M. with winds gusting up to 25 MPH.  On top of that miserable scenario there's a 40% chance for snow.  I'm beginning to think this is going to be a long and miserable winter.

I hope Donnie and Linda have plenty of logs for the fireplace.  Temperatures are in the mid-30's in Dripping Springs this morning and it will drop down to 32 tonight and 28 tomorrow night.

It was November 26, 1942 at the Hollywood Theater in New York City and it was a big night.  The premier of "Casablanca".

Wine gets better with age but this is ridiculous!

No singer in the world makes me as happy as Tina Turner when I hear her sing and I want to wish her a very happy 74th birthday today!

Sunday Dec. 1. That's when 212,000 travelers will come through O'Hare and more than 80,000 passengers will travel through Midway.

I just finished ordering a couple of pill refills with Walgreens and they've made the process of doing so even easier than it was before.  Even a dummy, like me, can now do it with no problem.  And, the auto refills make it even easier.  I recommend it!

By the way, I would say that even if my cousin didn't work there.
