SATURDAY JANUARY 4: WARNING: COLD AND GETTING COLDER

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Anything north of the Texas Gulf coast is TOO DAMN FAR NORTH.

What next??

I'm really sick to hear of the death R.I.P. PHIL
Like Elvis, the Everly Brothers were the act that every aspiring artist studied and looked up to.  No act will ever replace them.

Carl said he's happy to be here because the forecast high for Superior today is 18 below.  Apparently he hasn't seen our forecast for Monday.  Our high in La Crosse will be 16 BELOW MONDAY.

You know what they say, wherever you go, there you are....FREEZING YOUR ASS OFF!

A new weather warning has been issued by the National Weather Service:

FREEZING DRIZZLE HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST  MINNESOTA INTO SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL WISCONSIN IN THE WAKE OF AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT PASSING THROUGH THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY REGION.

A LIGHT GLAZE IS POSSIBLE ON UNTREATED ROADS BEFORE NOON WHEN THE FREEZING DRIZZLE EITHER ENDS OR CHANGES OVER TO SNOW.

LATER TODAY A DANGEROUS COLD OUTBREAK BEGINS TO FLOW INTO THE REGION. BY SUN NIGHT THE MERCURY WILL PLUMMET INTO THE 25 TO 30 BELOW ZERO RANGE.WITH WIND CHILL VALUES OF 35 TO 50 BELOW ZERO.

THE WORST WIND CHILLS LOOK TO OCCUR MON MORNING WHEN WIND CHILL READINGS COULD BOTTOM OUT AT A FRIGID 60 BELOW ZERO AT TIMES.

THE DANGEROUS COLD IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN OVER THE REGION THROUGH TUES MORNING. THIS WILL BE THE COLDEST AIR SEEN ACROSS THE AREA SINCE FEBRUARY 1996.

This is National Spaghetti Day which reminds me of a joke.

A wealthy man was having an affair with an Italian woman for several years. One night, during one of their rendezvous, she confided in him that she was pregnant.

Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money, if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card and write "Spaghetti" on the back. He would then arrange for child support payments to begin.

One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife. "Honey," she said. "You received a very strange post card today." "Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it," he said.

The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and fainted. On the card was written: "Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with meatballs, one without."

You'll never know how many times I've asked this question:
They've expanded the warming center at the First Baptist Church at 1209 West Main for those who need a warm place during this dangerous cold spell.
.
All the years I lived in Houston and I didn't know Anheuser-Busch had a brewery there.  It's a big one and they've been there since 1966.  That's the brewery where the new 25 ounce Budweiser cans of beer will be produced.

Bud is big in Texas and nobody will turn down an extra ounce.  At least, nobody I know.

HE'S OLD.....VERY OLD.

TIME TO GET UP, PEOPLE!

NOW, HERE'S SOME
REALLY GREAT
NEWS!

WEATHER WARNING
STAY OUT OF THE COLD!
ONE WEATHERMAN SAYS
"If you're under 40 you've never seen it this cold."
From 6 PM tonight through Tuesday morning, LIFE THREATENING WIND CHILLS OF 35 TO 50 BELOW ZERO.  FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR IN 30 MINUTES.

TOMORROW NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING, WIND CHILLS OF 35 TO 50 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED.

With wind chills that cold FROST BITE CAN OCCUR IN 10 MINUTES OR LESS.

Or, you could put it another way.  If you get out on a country road and the car breaks down you're, more than likely, going to die so STAY HOME!!!

Of course, there's always the idiot who says, "it won't be that bad and it can't happen to me".  Then we'll read about their death in the paper.

I got all the ingredients I need for chicken soup and chili.  I'll be making both in the crock pot the next couple of days and I'm not going out, again, until this miserable cold is gone!
