THURSDAY JANUARY 2, 2014: WEATHER THE WEATHER BE COLD, WEATHER THE WEATHER BE HOT, WE'LL WEATHER THE WEATHER, WHATEVER THE WEATHER, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT!

MOTHER WAS BORN
99 YEARS AGO TODAY
SHE COULD HAVE BEEN A STAR
And she was to us.

WE'RE NOT THE ONLY PLACE WITH COLD WEATHER.
Some areas around Houston could see temperatures below freezing for 9 to 12 hours tonight.  That's a killer freeze down there.

OK! NOW I'M JUST PLAIN PISSED!

THE SUNSHINE DIDN'T WARM US UP TODAY
And the clear sky tonight will drop our temperatures down to 15 below, or so.  Have I mentioned how thankful I am for a warm bed?  There are far too many that don't have that.
AND THIS REALLY MAKES ME SICK:
At 2:00 A.M. it was 6 degrees in La Crosse and 18 degrees in Nome, Alaska.

When does the next bus leave for Nome?
 SNOW, SNOW AND MORE SNOW

YOUR MORNING COULD BE MORE MISERABLE
THAN IT ALREADY IS:

THIS YEAR FEATURES A HISTORIC CALENDAR:

This is the only time in your life you will see this phenomenon:

August, this year, will have 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays.  This happens only once every 823 years.  The Chinese call it silver pockets full.

GUNDERSON HOSPITAL HAS RELEASED THE LIST OF THE MOST POPULAR BABY NAMES FOR 2012
I'm still shaking my head.

The most popular name for boys was JACKSON followed by LIAM at #2 and OWN at #3.  Own??? Where did that come from?  That comes dangerously close to Owner doesn't it?  Wonder what Grandpa would have thought of that.  Again, like they say, what goes around comes around and the kids, today, think they've come up with something "new"!

Now, for the girls.  #1 was AVA followed by BROOKLYN. Brooklyn???  Why did they have to go all the way to New York to come up with a name?  And, if it had to be New York why not Manhattan?  That's a much more exciting borough to be named after.  And, #3 was Emma.  Hey!  Emma!  I know a dog up at the R & R Ranch that's struttin' around this morning!

You won't find a Douglas around any more and the only Rita's are meter maids.

It's just another reminder that we're very much out of date.

Speaking of Gunderson Health System, they've got a recipe on Twitter, this morning, that sure sounds good.  Check it out here and see what you think.

 I'm all for this, 100%!

THUNDER WOULD HAVE LOVED THIS!

There's an interesting article, from PBS, on Alzheimers and Vitamin E
THAT YOU MAY WANT TO READ HERE

If it ever warms up, I'd like to invite this guy to La Crosse to spend a day on the street!
