I saw this in FORBES.  A quote from Carl Hubbell, baseball player with the New York Giants from 1928 to 1943.

"A fellow doesn't last long on what he has done.  He's got to keep on delivering."

How true that is.  We used to have a saying in radio, "Your only as good as your last show".
