According to this article in BRITISH AIRWAYS BUSINESS LIFE , at the last big electronics show 3D was everywhere.
They do admit, however, that while the technology has greatly improved, most of the TV and MOVIES being done in 3D are junk. And, I was surprised that they also mentioned those of us with only one eye. We see the world in 2D all the time so we won't rush out to buy a new 3D set anytime soon!
