It was 515 years ago today that the first recorded sighting of North America, by a European, was made. It was John Cabot, an explorer for England, who looked through his telescope and saw land. And, behold! There, on the beach, were a bunch of Vikings, chewing on dried lutefisk, and waving back at him.
