WHOSE WATCHING OUR WATER?

The toxic blue green algae in Lake Erie that is causing the water scare in Toledo could cause a scare anywhere.

No state requires testing for this toxin which can cause diarrhea, vomiting, pneumonia, liver inflammation and even death.

Toledo residents are being told not to use the city water.  Bottled water is almost impossible to find within a hundred miles of the city and all the restaurants have been closed.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea for every state to start checking for this stuff.

I thought I'd mention this just in case you don't have anything else to worry about today.

And algae spreads easily and quickly, no? This is the sort of pain that, inevitably, will make the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine, and even immigration and abortion all feel like trivial mosquito bites. This is the sort of thing Al Gore was urging us to look at way back in 2000, but we preferred George Bush.
